Hey everyone, thanks in advance for the help!

I bought my Taco used from someone who backed into a tree and totally destroyed the tailgate. Right now I have a Bully tailgate net, but I need a tailgate so that I can carry some more substantial stuff.
So I was wondering, should I buy a new tailgate, (any suggestions where from), or should I just get a tailgate from a junkyard?

    new ones are expensive!
Look at a junk yard, CL, and Tacoma world for a good deal on a used one.

    Wouldn't that be insurance fraud?

And yeah, scour the junkyards first.

try craigslist. BUT be sure its not some guy at his house selling a bunch of them. If so, report him to the police.

Huh? regardless of who backed into something, I don't
see where anyone is trying to commit fraud... OP said he
wants to buy a tailgate, not get his ins. company to pay. :notsure:

Thanks for the help! I like the tailgates that are on e-bay, and my truck is white so the one I saw would already be the right color and they are oem. Those tailgates are $350, I found a new tailgate on parts geek for like $170, but I would need to get it painted and it wouldn't be oem. I also plan on checking some local junkyards, but I have checked a few so far and had no luck. What do you guys think is my best option?

Hey guys thanks for all the help! I tried some of my local junk yards but they had nothing, so I just bought a tailgate off of ebay for like $400. Thanks for the tip honduraz10!
