I had been saving for a new truck for a couple years when I heard Ford was coming out with a new Ranger. I had a '98 Ranger that I bought new, awesome truck. When I heard the new Ranger would only be a 4 cylinder, I was out. Did my research, and bought a '19 Tacoma TRD Sport. Best decision I made in a long time. Love my Tacoma. Absolutely love it.

Worked at Ford dealership with new Rangers coming out.
We were being told recalls were going to be issued before new Ranger ever hit the lots. It is easier to fix the mistakes that way than at the factory. Still want one?

I think it’s funny how misconstrued the word “reliability” is today, especially when in reference to the 3rd gen. How many cases are out there in which folks have had complete or catastrophic failure of something on the 3rd gen Tacoma, leaving them stranded? How do those few cases stack up against the hundreds of thousands sold in the past few years? I’ll wait. It’s 2019. People today complain about any little thing about their trucks and then try and tie it back to long term reliability, when their truck has 20k on it. In reality the engine and drivetrains on the Tacoma have been proven over time, even among other platforms. Are they the most refined? No, but when it comes to reliability, they’ll last long into the future. I’ve already seen high mileage and fleet examples of it.

So why are you still here bitching about it? Go trade it in and get on a ranger forum so you can bitch over there...

News travels fast today....and we have online forums that allow people to share information rapidly back and forth.

This leads to the perception of issues, or better yet the over amplification of issues through repetition.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Especially when you consider that bad news travels even faster and people generally get on here to complain about a problem rather than share how happy they are with their purchase.

99% of the I hate my 3rd GEN or 3rd GEN issues are Troll posts from ex TW Members under a new false identity or from other non Toyota forums trolling for laughs, its pretty obvious from the title or the first sentence they all use the same Im a victim and unhappy approach.

Exactly. Yet nobody can think critically about the 95% of owners not on the forums. All an extreme majority of which also aren’t having long term reliability issues. I just find it funny that it’s been thrown around so much on this thread.

But it's always very funny to hear 3rd Gen paranoia in real life, both from potential & new buyers
