I have both: 2013 Tacoma DCLB and a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 4X4 L Plus.

Keep the Tacoma, but the Jeep Cherokee (the version I have) is by far much more comfortable and daily drive-able than the Tacoma. Depending on the off road trail, one can be better than the other. The shorter wheelbase and the independent wheel traction control drive on the Jeep is great. If I had to pick one, I would choose the Jeep. But the Tacoma I have is the sport not the off-road version.

my buddy has a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the V8 Hemi. I'll be the first to admit that it is a lot of fun! Not sure about the trail capability of it. Supposedly it has better approach and departure angles than a stock Tacoma. It has that air ride suspension where you can lift it up at the push of a button but not sure how reliable it is.

Just go drive any Jeep product and you'll have your answer. I couldn't believe what overpriced junk they were (especially the Wrangler), and I couldn't leave the stealership fast enough.

The one and only Jeep I would buy again would be the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. We had a 2012 Limited and that thing was a lot of fun to drive. I'd like one with a little more capability if I ever did it again.

Wranglers are not DD friendly. You really have to want to drive one to enjoy it. I'm over that now. Next one will be a CJ5 or CJ7 that I can get into and out of cheap and drive when I want to.

The Cherokee and Renegade are OK for what they are but hardly good for anything more than light offroading.

    Jeep - "over-promise and under-deliver" (looks over-promises, quality under-delivers)
    Tacoma - "under-promices and over-delivers" (looks under-promises, the rest over-delivers)

Form vs. substance. Nobody but you can decide what is more important to you.

You will lose your ass on resale. The only domestics that seem to hold value is a full sized diesel truck.

I get the appeal, because the wrangler is a cool looking ride. Reliability is the #1 reason to stick with the Tacoma though.

My coworker has one. It was her "dream car" so she got it as soon as she passed probationary status. She said she now regrets it. The ride isn't smooth, and she gets 14 MPG in the 2 door model.

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
i drove a jeep wrangler for acouple of years it was a company truck, gas mileage sucked, driving it i felt like a bobble head, felt every bump lol, but i did like taking the top down and going topless lol,
was good for plowing side walks and tight spots in parking lots.
