Full day of fun trails! You must have at least 33" tires and skid plates/sliders. Winch is recommended, but not required. Level 3 trails.

    Trails:
    • Quinn Lake Trail

      Trail Description
This very popular well-known trail has been used for many years by all kinds of groups. In 2008, tire manufacturer BF Goodrich awarded it the status of “Outstanding Trail”. The trail has seen a lot of wear and tear lately due to traffic. It is very rocky with rocky climbs and off-camber areas. In some areas even the bypasses can be challenging. This is a full day trail; We usually go in the “back door” (north entrance) which makes the trail more challenging and exit via the “front door” (south entrance) over bridge. This trail is only passable in a stock vehicle driven by an experienced driver. Skid plates highly recommended. Significant logging has decimated the "front door" part of the trail. Often go in the "back door", loop around to Pinion Pass and come back out the "back door".
      Cautions
Damage can occur, tight trial and technical. Access road to trail is OFSC E108 trail.
Watch for logging trucks on road in.
      Trail Highlights
Allows access to Quinn Pinion Pass.

There is a traditional lunch spot at top of the hill overlooking the lake.
      User Groups
      ATV, Dirt Bikes
      Terrain Type
Moderate Off Camber (15-35 deg), Rock, Steep Rock, Tight Sections
      Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Min 31 Tires, Rear Tow Points, Winch

    • Sullivan Lake

      Average Completion Time
      8 hours
      Trail Description
Rocky and tight trail that leads to Sullivan Lake, 2 great camping spots, and up on top of Evergreen Mountain. DO NOT CUT TREES! the tight trail conditions are what make this trail challenging!
      Cautions
      Body damage is possible
      Trail Highlights
      Tight and Technical
      User Groups
      ATV
      Terrain Type
Mix of Terrain, Moderate Off Camber (15-35 deg), Mud, Rock, Short Water Crossing, Tight Sections, Tree Cover, Water 6
      Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Mild Susp Lift 2";, Min 31 Tires, Rear Tow Points

    • Crag Lake.
      Trail Description
This trail has been used by OVO and Suzican for several years. EOTB began using the trail about 2006. The road down the power line to the Crag Lake turn-off is dusty, rough and lumpy. The trail crosses a beaver pond and climbs through the forest to reach a lake at the top of the hill. Skid plates recommended. Pin stripping expected due to vegetation growth. This trail has seen a lot of abuse lately, please STAY ON TRAIL. Normally we turnaround at the lake and exit via the entrance.
      Cautions
In 2010 we noticed there was a steel wire rope across the trail between 2 trees with a yellow marker on it. No signs. We moved the rope off to the side of the trail and it has not been put back.
      Trail Highlights
The lake makes a good lunch and swim spot (beware of leaches).
      User Groups
      ATV
      Terrain Type
Mix of Terrain, Moderate Off Camber (15-35 deg), Mud, Rock, Sand, Steep Rock, Tight Sections, Tree Cover, Water 15
      Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Rear Tow Points

    • Lavant.
      Trail Description
The Lavant trail is a favourite EOTB trail located about an hour west of Ottawa. This is a beautiful forest trail departing from Dixon Lake. There are many muddy spots along the trail but the only deep mud hole is at the trail junction with a side trail that exits E Exit back down the mountain, and out the side trail at the mud hole. Driver experience would be an asset. This trail is used by ATVs and is part of the Robertson Lake snowmobile association. Some parts of the trail are Crown Land but most of the trail is Lanark County property.
      Cautions
Cautions: deep mud hole; tight rocks on the ascent to the topeasily to the road. Check the mud before proceeding, damage has been done here in the past and to more than one vehicle. At the trail junction is a rocky creek crossing or uphill bypass. Midway to the top, a challenging narrow rocky pinch point requires careful spotting and may result in body damage. Skid plates recommended.
      Trail Highlights
Exposed rock ridge at top offers lots of spots for crawling over rocks. This is a great spot for lunch and pictures.
      User Groups
      ATV, Dirt Bikes, Snowmobiles
      Terrain Type
      Mud, Tight Sections

Will be adding more details later tonight for those interested.

    General Plan (In PROCESS)

So general meetup spot for those coming from the GTA area:
44.841773, -77.653779 little gas station by the name of "Trudy's place"

    Option 1:
From there you can head to our start of the Vennachar trail (45.09793,-77.07153-->this is actually the end of the trail) and will be about an hour and 15 minute drive or so.

While on the trail you will find the following campsites (the first one is roughly 14-15kms in or so based on the GPS tracks) :
    • This one is last resort as it is "busy on a dusty road" 45.15691,-76.95822
    • This one is just passed the Sullivan Lake Trail --> 45.15646,-76.96136
    • 45.16336,-76.94884
    • 45.17858,-76.92514
    Option 2 -->Meet at 10am at Trudy's Place on Friday July 16
From Trudys @Shveet has a trail that is approximately 4 hours that will take us to the start of the Vennachar trail

General Meetup Idea for Ottawa/Eastern Gang:
@philth and @Pat613 will meet Saturday morning at The Bogie General Store (4709 Calabogie Rd, Calabogie, ON K0J 1H0). If any of you could post your camping spot Friday night, we could meet you Saturday morning. We're both pretty stock but lookingforward to seeing you guys.

Goal is to find a campsite for Friday night which will be the overall group meet up place. Can divide into multiple sites (based on how large) and break up to run different trails for Saturday.

What ever campsite we find we will post up...All depends if they are taken prior to us getting there. Where ever anyone lands first and there is enough room just post up....Hoping service isn't too bad.

I might see you on the trail with another group....
Bancroft Overland Club has a group of 10 or so trucks (me included) that will be rolling around those parts
    :bananadead:

especially since this area is my area. I got maps for days

Yeah, will see. As of right now I think this was a short notice trip so it can always be scheduled for another weekend. Lots of camping out there.

    Hi @tacoma16,

I can't make it for Saturday but I'd love to meet up at some point Sunday. Will you post plans for Sunday? I know reception can be spotty for me in there.

I am pretty familiar with the area from camping in there for years but I am new to off roading. I have 31s, TRD skid plate and rock sliders. Your post says must have 33's but also says min 31" tires. In any case, I don't think I'm experienced enough yet.

Not sure I am ready to follow you guys yet but would love to check out your taco's and maybe follow on foot a bit. This way I could see how it's done.

do we (TEC) have anything going on the 17th? Because it would be easier (since i'm running with another club this weekend in the area) depending where we go i can do some trail scouting. Also i might be able to take the friday (16th) or monday (19th) off to have a long weekend to do these trails with you guys.

@Manfred we can make this happen :D

If I end up going I will definitely let you know! I think the level one trail Vennachar trail will be doable for sure. This would be my first time going and I am just going off of what OF4WD is saying and now what @bzzr2 is saying. All useful info!

    been there before.

nothing on the calendar. I believe this trip was planned a while ago, but we (@Norilsk and I) took too long to put it together. Nothing against any other weekend. It is a 5 hour trip to the trailhead alone for me, so starting on a Friday would be better for sure.

I've walked some of them and yeah I can imagine. I've seen pictures/videos of people doing it but not live yet. I'm looking to learn.

Sounds good. I'll PM you my number if you want to text me that would be awesome. I'll be out Sunday no matter what on some of the milder trails around there.

Switched the dates up. Think the few days notice wasn't enough. Aiming for next week as it will give everyone a bit more time.

@Pat613 not sure if you're able to meet up but let us know!

There's quite a bit of unmarked 1s and 2s there with plenty of bypasses. I'm very new to off roading and it's been my main place to explore. Just gotta take it slow because it's a spider web of unmarked trails so one second your on a 2 and the next it feels like a 4.

Maybe we can split into a 2s crew and a 3s crew. I wouldn't mind watching the 3s crew do the Quinn trails though.
