Who is down for this trip commencing July 30/31st ish returning Aug 5th?
Doing some research with the Michigan members on TW for trail/off road parks, permits ect.
This tour will be hotel friendly but feel free to camp...I'm to old to sleep on anything but a mattress or a bar stool.
Looking to get a rough idea of numbers as I'm sure so Michiganders will join in as well.
Crossing at Pt Huron and eventually reaching Silver lake dunes and return...it's loosey goosey right now as I'm confirming what are the best stops/trails/parks between the two points.
Figure I'd throw it out now so people can do some planning in advance.
If anyone has been over there before please contribute...she's wide open!!

    Lookie what I found!
    Screenshot_20220413-140009_Drive.jpg

Cost of all three permits is $72 USD. That is good for the year. Probably the most economical way to do it. The ORV License is 26 and change the Trail Permit is 10 bucks and you can get a Daily Passport for 10 or do a yearly for 36. You need the passport to enter the state parks ect and just about all the ORV parks require them.
I'm waiting for a Michigan DNR rep to get back to me on the requirements of the Passport.

What is the go to option for dune flags? Must fit the requirements of 7ft tall,"international orange", rectangular and solid (no mesh)

It needs to be mounted at the front of your vehicle, with the flag 10 ft off the ground - they have a 10 ft high bar at the park gate that the flag must hit on the way in.

    I bought this 9 ft flag: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Firestik-Antenna-6B-2-Piece-Straight-Mount-Fiber-Flag-Pole-9ft-/325150544851

There's a 6 ft flag usable if your mounting point is at least 4 ft off the ground when your tires are aired down: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Firestik-Antenna-2-2-Piece-Straight-Mount-Fiber-Flag-Pole-6ft-/334391162649

    Update.
Have generated some interest stateside about our Invasion. Working on guides for the Newaygo/Baldwin areas.
I will keep all posted on the permit side of things.
Travel time from Pt Huron to the Dunes is approx 4 hrs and thats via I-69/I-96/31.
The Dunes will obviously be the priority as some do not have as much time as others.

Remember it is not an invasion. It's a special off-road operation.

Ok Boys and Girls, just a reminder to get on your passport renewal if you need one. Our lovely Canadian Liberal Gov't seems to be back logged in the passport office. Hmmmm wonder why? Get back to work ya fucking slackers...everyone else is!!!!
