I am planning on getting a DCLB sport, but I am seeing pretty much everyone getting the tech package. Is it really worth it? About the only thing I personally would find useful is the backup cam which can usually be a really cheap aftermarket option. It is my understanding that you get the touchscreen display regardless, correct?

Anyway, looking for any input that might sway me one way or the other. I haven't seen a side-by-side of the tech/no tech pkg. Also, I am not a music person, so that is definitely probably different that most.

Is there anything major I am missing that I can't get better/cheaper aftermarket? I just want to go bare bones DCLB sport with tow pkg only, but might be swayed if there is something I am missing.

    thx

All the tech package adds is heated seats, sun roof, blind spot monitor and crass traffic back up sensor. The top level tech palate adds JBL speakers and upgraded stereo..

Yeah, I finally found the link to the spec sheet. I think for my needs, it just doesn't add up to spend an extra 2-3k. I'm in the south, so heated seats isn't even really much of an incentive. I had a DCLB before, so I am pretty sure I can back up w/o hitting someone especially with the backup cam.

And individual control of climate control. It's up to you. Personally, the regular Entune stereo is good and don't need heated seats or parking assst. I can hit shit all by myself!?
The backup camera is standard with Entune and works great.

Thanks Sam. I feel pretty much the same, but though maybe I was missing something. Btw nice red truck. I am not a red guy, but that looks sweet. Best red for the taco yet by far. I am meeting my dealer next weekend to order hoping for a Dec-ish delivery. Still going back and forth between white and bb-pearl.

Hey 3dBdown, I just got my truck and I got the top level premium tech package. It's just some extra stuff. I don't mind the regular sound wich is really good but this truck had the upgraded tech package with the jbl and I just couldn't wait to order a truck and just got this one.
I would say get it, but it's up to you, just think in what is it exactly that you want and if you are willing to pay the extra for the package.

A big deal for some is if you get the tech package with a TRD Off-Road you get a painted rear bumper instead of a chrome one. Guess it's Toyota's way of getting you to upgrade knowing that some people didn't like any chrome on their truck with the 2nd gens.

Too bad there's no option for just a normal radio and no high tech garbage. It's a truck not a luxury sedan but that's just me. Even the SR has a little too much standard tech for my tastes but I guess it's tolerable compared to other new vehicles.

So is there a difference or not in the touch screen and navigation? I thought someone said in another thread that the Nav was better in the TRD Sport than the one in the SR5.

The SR5 I test drove last week had the standard touch screen that was available in the 2015 TRD models. Now that I have my 16 TRD OR I see the difference. The screen is completely different. It's nicer and offers more features.
