I can't seem to find what cables do and do not work with techstream. In Canada if that matters. Links would be super appreciated.

Don't buy a generic knockoff, spend the money on the right cable.

Here's another list, direct from Toyota.

Stupid question, does this allow tuning too or no?

I'm not positive about that, but do know for sure that the VF tuner set up works with techstream.

It does, but VFTuner is no longer allows to source your own adapter. Gotta buy from VFTuner if thinking to tune.

Anywho, is that the only connector that is recommended? I need to program two keys since I'm stupid and cut into the chip.

^^This. The Tactrix cable contains the license info for VFTuner, so their cable has to be plugged into your USB port when you start the software. If tuning is your main goal then get the cable from VFTuner. If you just want to use TechStream then you can get any cable that works. The plus side is the VFTuner Tactrix cable works with TechStream, you just have to select the correct cable from their list when you first start TechStream.

https://a.co/c58EbGi is what I recently used to program a smart key for mine. Since it's a cheap clone, getting it and drivers to work is a bit of a PITA.
Also worked great programming buddy's Rav 4 key. Took less than 5min to program each. You have to have one key that is already programmed but sounds like you do. I would never use it for flashing tsb or tuning though. Go with ones above if you're planning on that.

Here's the smart key I used:

OEM Electronic 3-Button Smart Key... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VDVFB2V

It's an OEM circuit board in an aftermarket case.

I just ordered the Tactrix Openport 2.0 cable for Techstream. Came right to my door in Vancouver, B.C. Works great. Haven't programmed keys but I have full access to Techstream.

While it was not necessary for vF to go that route, it makes sense to do so. Imagine troubleshooting an issue with a customer only to realize they're using some cheap Chinese knockoff. Now imagine that happening significantly more as the company grows. By restricting the use to specific interface adapters, he can eliminate those issues AND can provide warranty for his devices.

My taxtrix cable still works with the new software I downloaded about 6 weeks ago. I had to upgrade my software when I recently updated my tune. Was i "grandfathered" in or is my software different somehow.

You were grandfathered. vF allowed that for those who had authentic Tactrix adapters and were customers prior to the move to vF only adapters.
