Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Got my cheap clone too for customizing options, PIDs and bi-directional tests but I agree; would never try to use it to flash anything. Tactrix or Mongoose (non clone) for that only.

Makes perfect sense. I think I will wait and see if I can round up a Tactrix dongle. I just loathe dropping $170.00 on something I will use 2 or 4 times during the life of the truck.

@crashdb so you have been perfectly happy with your VXDIAG dongle? No issues flashing TSB's etc?

You have a link for the Mongoose (non clone) version? Do you have personal experience with it?

I wouldn't use mine for flashing. Pretty sure someone in this thread bricked their ECU with one.

I've just used it for TPMS, keys, and customization. Works good for that.

Well so far, this cable I have works fine for that stuff too, although I will be sending it back. I got it on Amazon so I could get it here in a day, but it is in no way worth the $70.00 I paid for it. I can get a $15.00 version of the same cable on Ebay for customizations if thats all I wanted to do... I would love to be able to flash TSB's so I may just bite the bullet and get the Tactrix. I have been supporting them for years and years in the Subaru world, but never had a need to upgrade to the OpenPort 2.0 version, so all I have are the OG cables and I couldn't make that one work... That Mongoose deal is astronomical.... $400.00++ ? yeah...nope.

Yeah, the mongoose cable is crazy expensive and I don't understand why. The Tactrix adapter is definitely reasonably priced. If you decide you want to do OVTune you will have it already too... :boink:

Finally, got the techstream installed with the key after struggling to get key for the techstream! I am running Bootcamp on my macbook.

I used to have VWs, and I have experience with VAGCOM.

SOooooo!!!!!! Will Techstream give us the option to open/close the window via the key? I love that feature from my VWs.

what are the other features we can add to our Tacomas? I have a '20 Tacoma MT.

The entire list of what can be customized is in Section 9 of your OM and is shown in a link directly under the TS step by step instructions.

Unfortunately, Techstream pales in comparison to Vagcom.

Speaking of Vagcom, has anyone tried Vagcom cables with Techstream?

So I was able to flash the cuw on my Taco using my buddies Tactrix 2.0, it worked flawlessly. Needless to say, I am probably going to buy one now.

That being said, someone (maybe you?) mentioned resetting some parameters AFTER flashing a TSB and in my case I went from 0460 to 0461, so can you tell me what I need to do to reset those parameters?

    Thanks @tonered

    Good stuff.

Yes. You want to reset the Learned Values using TS. Then, let the engine idle for 5min before driving.

Right, but how do I go about resetting the learned values? Is there a particular screen I need to access to get there? A little nudge in the right direction is all I need!

It should be a function in the Engine ECU. I know it is in there, but I have only done it with the OVT software.

If you need me to, I can get a screenshot in the morning.

Nah were good brother. I fingered it out. I reset the engine learning and the tranny learned values and then fired it up, let it idle for 5 minutes or so and will do my driving tomorrow...

I want to thank everyone in this thread for all of the great info. This was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It does seem that the Tactrix is the way to go. This time around when I connected to it using the Tactrix and TS, it pulled my model up right away and also pulled my VIN, which it did NOT do, when querying the ECU with the Mini-VCI cable. All I had to do was select smart key and radar cruise and that was it, so to anyone reading this, there is something to be said about using the right interface.

    Got it! I found it.

also, I got the pop up on tech steam saying I need to update. It kept popping up over over over.
