just installed a Tekonsha Primus 2 brake controller.

i bought the plug in adaptor to go with the controller which came with its own plug and wires. i spliced the wires from the adaptor to the controller plug to get the length i needed to install in the centre console. screwed the white ground to the truck body inside the wheel well. connected all the colour coded wires to match - 2 whites together, blue to blue, black to black, etc.

it's not turning on. could it be as simple as a fuse and if so where would i find that.

any other ideas thoughts are appreciated

Have you tried it with the trailer connected?

What year truck? did it already have the tow package? Do you have the tow/brake relays in the under hood fuse box or did you power the controller externally?

so it's an 05 prerunner no tow pkg. so i'm adding the brake controller and the 7 pin wiring harness. had the plug/adaptor for the brake controller hooked everything up as it should be. no power.
so i've got it pretty nailed down to no fuses in the fuse box. just have to figure which size fuse to install. so i'm missing the 30A towing tail fuse, and the Towing Tail box fuse and the STOP LP CTR box fuse (just don't know what size they are and assume the dealership can tell me)

i previously installed the class iii/iv tow hitch with a 4 pin connector so that's all good to go and works.

so i haven't tried with a trailer connected. gonna get the fuses and then go from there. hopefully that's all it is.

If you look in the two slots you will see there is only one contact in each one. To be able to put a fuse in they need 2 contacts each.
    As seen here

I'm getting ready to attempt this install as well. Does that require two seperate 30 amp fuses? Please excuse my ignorance.

Ok thanks. I'm not 100% certain my fuse box is the exact same but I was looking at it earlier today. I'm gonna grab two 30 amp fuses tomorrow and give it a try. Do you know if the towing tail slot needs to have a fuse as well for it to work?

Since this is a thread about the break controller, no you would not need the tow battery charge or tow tail lights fuses to make the brake controller work.

I am currently having the same issue right now. What part do I need to wire in the other side of those fuses and where do I wire them to?
