After reviewing some of the threads related to this problem, am unable to find what I'm looking for, please help if your able:

My temp gauge is nonfunctional, zero movement-pegged at the bottom. Replaced both sending unit sensor (front) and coolant temp sensor (rear). Engine seems to run just fine, no funny smells, no engine lights, or misfiring . I'm driving it over distances long and short and no signs or symptoms of over heating leading me to accept that the temperature is at least close to if not at normal operating temperature.

Could this be an in dash issue? What else would you guys check or replace?

I am also considering an aftermarket gauge but sure would like to figure this out.

    Thank you for reading!

    David

A Scangauge II plugs into the ODB port. It reads what the computer sees. It will give you water & oil temps. It’s good for other diagnostics.

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
Turn the key to "Run" (motor off) Have a helper watch the temperature gauge in the truck.
You disconnect the temp gauge wire at the sender and very briefly ground the wire.
The gauge should peg all the way to hot.
If it doesn't, the gauge itself is probably bad.
Check continuity of the sending wire to be sure it's not broken.

With motor cold. Take an Ohm meter and touch the temp gauge and ground. Write downd Ohm reading.
Warm up motor to normal temp. (Use an Infrared gauge)
Take another Ohm reading at temp gauge.
The second reading will be higher.
For comparison, you can buy a new temp sender. Put it in boiling water (212 Degrees)
Check the Ohms. Now you'll have a known starting point.

Thank you, very helpful. Narrowed down to the dash.
