Some of them know that their Mexican-made Tacoma could have those issues too. RIP :bananadead:

She had an MDX before that and it would roast the tires, I wish we could get that 3.5 in the Taco.

While there isn't a night-and-day difference between the 2, the 4runner is somewhat better built and more comfortable than the Tacoma.
The ride is more comfortable, though that can vary with trim (TRD PRo, limited, TRD offroad).
The 4runner's cabin is quiter (partly due to the Tacoma's 3.5l being a high-rev'er).
The payload is slightly better, though the Tacoma has higher tow ratings.
The engine feel is subjective: the 4unner's 1gr-fe makes better low-end torque versus the tacoma's 3.5l which makes good horsepower but a higher RPM.
4runner's cabin (front and rear space) is noticeably bigger.

Ultimately the 4runner isn't some magical unicorn, but is a very well-built, robust and comfortable body-on-frame SUV. Tacoma is great for its bed space and relative simplicity, but it definitely doesn't have the refinement of a 4runner. On road noise alone, the 4runner is a more comfortable ride.

I had my 08 Tacoma Sport for 11 years. Traded it for a 19 4Runner ORP back in October. Other than really missing the 6spd, the 4Runner, to me, is overall better. Like many here, I outgrew the Taco with a growing family.

    - The T4R is at least 1000lbs heavier, hence the decreased towing capability.

    - Coming from the 6spd, the automatic can feel sluggish. It's not so much because of the extra weight, and the extra 30hp helps, but it's like Toyota programmed it to drive in "Eco mode". My girl's Rav4 has this. The tranny won't shift until it absolutely has to.

    - I wouldn't say my Tacoma wasn't comfortable. I just put 2600 miles on my T4R over 5 days with no complaints.

    - Hard to say on road noise. This will depend on the tires, the pavement, etc... The T4R probably has better sound deadening, but the cabin is over the rear wheels.

    - Compared to the 2nd gen Tacoma, the T4R definitely has better creature comforts. Auto-all windows, heated power seats and heated mirrors, Much better sounding stereo system too.

    - With the rear seats folded down, the T4R has slightly more cargo room than a Tacoma short bed with a cap.

The tacoma just got to small for me, and I made the jump to an ORP w/ KDSS. I'm loving it so far - it feels so solid! Looking forward to getting it out on the trail.

When I picked up my 2019 Taco, I went into the dealership intending to purchase a 4 runner. After test driving it, well, I was less than impressed. The Taco drives/rides better and offers me more utility. The 2019's still didn't have keyless starting!

Indeed, don't miss a 'real' truck bed at all. Also @190 inches long the T4R is easier to park and make u-turns as well. Still park in the boonies though to avoid the lazy door dinger club.

The Limited models do. I don't see what's so special about it though.

I’ve had vehicles with and without remote start. With that said, I definitely see what’s so special about it. To be able to start your vehicle without walking outside and allow the interior to heat up/cool down, windows to defrost, etc. is a convenience. Some also see it as a safety feature with the ability to get into a vehicle that’s already started and take off. I like the feature, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I've had vehicles with remote start, but haven't owned one with push button start.

I misunderstood the following post about “keyless starting” to mean remote start.

Runner and Taco have different uses. A separate bed with a topper sure is nice to have sometimes like when kids or dogs have a rendezvous with a skunk.

I compromised quite a bit going from trucks to a T4R, but the 4th Gen 4.7l Limiteds came with real leather 8-way/4-way power seats and the full factory tow package, 7000lb tow capacity, ClassIV hitch, external trans cooler, 7-pin.

All of it in a 190" four door with fulltime 4WD Torsen center diff and 4lo, rear window rolls down, 23 gallon fuel tank. Suspension mods galore available, tows well, offroads well. Most of all, the V8 sounds so good when you put your foot into it.

I test drove a 2019 4Runner TRD ORP without KDSS (though the dealer website showed they had one, maybe sold it and didn't delist it) and a 2019 Tacoma TRD OR DBLB Tech+Prem and honestly I felt they were about the same, maybe I am not as intune with vehicles as others but going on 70Mph+ highways and on slower roads I didn't feel any real power difference, I did notice some difference turning ECT on the Tacoma but not like huge. I didn't play with putting either in S mode either. I did enjoy the sound system on the 4Runner, completely forgot to try it on the Tacoma, oops. I was at a dealer an hour away as they had the Tacoma I wanted to try, when I go test drive the Ascent that subaru dealer is also a Toyota so I'll see if they have a premium optioned tacoma I could listen to the sound system in.

I didn't realise the 2020 4Runners were keeping voodoo blue in the TRD Pro trim which sucks, the dealer showed me his dealer side on Toyota and VB wasn't available on the SR5 or TRD OR, which sucks as they had a VB TRD Pro in the show room and I really really want that color, but don't want to pay TRD Pro Pricing to get it when I could get a Tacoma TRD OR DCLB Adv tech + prem for a lot less than a TRD Pro 4Runner.

I got an MSRP on a 2020 4Runner TRD ORP and had the KDSS, Power/Tilt Moonroof and TRD 17" Whell with locks and delivery at $46,545 MSRP. Base on the model is $42,470.00
