That >8,000 lb. winch is a waste of money.

I’ve worked with enough technicians/mechanics/production crews to know the drill.

But honestly, I prefer working in the shop or production floor more than in an office. Despite being an engineer, I was raised by rough necks. I hate the office politics. I hate needing to check for people’s preferred pronouns. I’d rather take shit and be able to speak freely than constantly tiptoe around the perpetually offended people in the office.

Yep completely agree although I have no clue what the office stuff looks like as I've never stepped foot in one other than HR to make sure all my benefits are right.

I worked with a very masculine lesbian woman, she is still one of the best mechanics I ever met, I swear she made most of the men in the shop tuck tale and look like little sensitive high school girls. It was quite entertaining. She was more foul mouthed and hardcore it would make a ship full of sailors look like angels

People that work in big corporate offices are the same breed of people that run your HOA (if you are unlucky enough to have one of those where you live...but you get the idea).

Boeing is a perfect example of that that. When they were run by engineers they designed and built the B-52 and 747, both way overbuilt for what they do. After they merged with McDonnel Douglas and MBAs took the reins they put out the 737 Max, a cheaper redesign that they decided didn't need as rigorous testing/training since it was kinda the same. I'll bet money that the B-52 will still be flying when the Navy retires the 737 based P-8.

If you want some entertainment join your local off-road recovery group on facebook and watch some of the ridiculously dangerous things dummies attempt when they are stuck or come across other folks that are stuck. My favorite was the lady that got angry at everyone calling her stupid for using her dog leash to try and pull a hydrolocked wrangler out of water/mud to the cab. News flash, it didn't work.

I doubt that winch is strong enough to drag all the crap bolted on, let alone the truck.

Good thing it never leave pavement.

It's safe to say there's a lot to absorb in that picture

At the risk of getting roasted here, I do have a 4500-pound ATV winch for my truck (not mounted yet, going on tomorrow). HOWEVER, I bought it knowing full well what I was getting into and that anything I would be pulling would weigh less than that. If I am only pulling a ton or less on a regular basis, I would rather have a lighter and more compact winch setup. A full-size winch would be massive overkill for the stuff I do.

But if I actually did enough offroading to warrant a winch for recovery, I would for sure go for a bigger one. Mechanical advantage is cool and can be very useful, but I would want something with enough grunt to pull my truck out without having to set up snatch blocks and all that. 4500 pounds is more than plenty for pulling fallen trees away and putting in pasture fence, but I would NOT trust it for pulling my truck out of the mud.

I'm not like this guy, I promise:

There's a lot to unpack in that picture, but let's just throw away the whole suitcase.

EDIT: Dude's got eyes on his headlights, what is even going on here.

Your winch works for what you need it for me having a 8,000 pound winch on my lawn mower might be a tad over kill but it works ( was just sitting unused )nice to move those bigger branches .As long as your anchored to a real big tree .

Upgrading the electrical system was interesting .

Gotta have the eyes on the head lights !! That is the Cool light option for advanced Mall Crawlers .

I do need to get one of those Ford ovals to put in my grill
