That >8,000 lb. winch is a waste of money.

I'm pretty sure he is shopping the movie rights at the minute.

A true story of survival, where a boy and his winch escaped the wilderness one inch at a time.

Hopefully the consistent activity gracing his 'alert' box on here is acting as some sort of Chinese water torture; maybe he will finally give in and post this revolutionary new video.

    My money is on no.

Pretty sure I'm going through a divorce right now.

I might be late but I'm pretty sure I'm more committed to making this video for y'all at this point than my wife was committed to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She was waiting for you to upload the video so you all can get rich on the youtube money. You took too long.

But hey, divorced just means more money on truck parts and not your wife!

Hopefully you're not using an ATV lawyer that's going to slowly and painfully drag the whole process out, and you can recover quickly from this.

Wouldn't be the first time she said I was taking too long. Also, she's pretty high up in the ranks of Google, so I definitely won't have a greater budget than before. Thankfully this project won't break the bank.

I know I should be prioritizing the ATV winch and video for y'all, but I'm having too much fun roughing out my new grill to honor my marriage.

Truck projects are only background activity the divorce fun, but the ATV winch is coming up.

I spent less than $500 on a 9.5k Smittybuilt winch and the Undercover Hidden Winch Mount it bolts to. Sure this was 6 years ago and I got the UHWM for a steal.

I’ve never wished I had a smaller winch when recovering vehicles. You can’t always use force multipliers.

My vote is better to have and not need than need and not have.

I think the best reasons to use an ATV winch are to save weight on the front end and save some money, IF a person does not anticipate using their winch for a heavy recovery more than a handful of times a year, and if they don't have access to a good deal on a bigger winch like what you got. That said, good deals come along for ATV winches too.

Man we all feel for you with your wife leaving you and everything but please stop with this “500 pound ATV winch to recover a 5,000 pound stuck truck” shit......

I can agree about the weight, but not the cost. By the time you buy a quality rope strong enough to recover a vehicle, and enough rigging to compensate for an undersized winch, you're going to be at a similar cost.

I would change this to "if a person doesn't anticipate ever using a winch."

Just me, though. If I planned on needing something, I would make sure it's sufficient for the task.
