    Greetings!

    I am Sil.
    DSC01622.jpg
Yep that's right. I did trade my TRD Off-road manual for a bottom line SR 4cyl 5 speed 4x4. Why the hell would he do that?

Simple, me and the wife got a divorce(the good kind, where we both agree and we are happy for each other) and I decided to keep the house because I could afford it and she could not. Yes, I could have kept the truck and paid for the house at the same time, but this truck has half the payment and half of it paid off. Happy camper.

I name my vehicles because there is a connection. You take care of it, it takes care of you. So it took me a second to decide, and I went with Vulcan(not the kind that live long and prosper). Weak and feeble dark with ash from the forge in the mountain, he made great weapons and trinkets for the gods making them powerful. Much like what the 4cyl has done to Toyota, but in a metaphorical sense.IMG_1691.jpg

Through out the build and thread, I will post quite a bit of pictures. I tend to travel, hike, run, be that weekend warrior kind of well rounded individual. Some of my pictures will be phone and some will be camera. Not a professional, just for hobby.

My favorite hobby is probably driving. I do it all the weekdays at work and would constantly drive on the weekends if I could.

    So enough about me..

    The TRUCK!

    SR Utility PKG
    4cyl
    5speed
    4wd

It was bone stock, since then I have added some modifications to make it my own. Also my first ever big install of anything on a vehicle..

    Modifications

    Front Shocks- Bilstein 6112 setting at 4/3 1".. more like 1.75 #4cyl

Rear Shocks- Bilstein 5100 Standard with Wheelers off-road 5 leaf HD pack 2.5"

    Bump Stops- SuperBumps all around

    How he sits today 11/5/17

This is true. I did clean up on a trail here in GA, and it performed just as well as the off-road. I put it in 4low on the way back up to save the clutch and it just creeped right up without stalling. At the rate insurance companies are totaling Tacomas, I should be able to find one easily.

If only we could still do the yellow wire mod...

Nice, Welcome to the elite SR club.

I knew you weren't in CA, cause she would of got the house and truck, and you'd still end up paying for them.

    This is true.

You know, I have thought about seeing some of CA on my next big trip. I have been to the states around CA, but not CA.

Every year I take a nice little road trip. I took a week off this year and went to Canyonlands and Grand Teton, great trip. Went to the east most point in the United States in Maine. That was a fast and fun trip.

Next year I will be taking three weeks, back to back, off to travel. My bucket list goal is to drive to Alaska as far north as I can go. So why not do it? I might also see some places in between.

    At times yes indeed.

Waiting to see the bottom line price of the 2018s in a DCSB SR and the SR5 model.

Not both but if the SR5 has the power rear slider I may jump to it.

    Depending on cost.

Share any feedback if you could please, I’m all ears.

I understand. I had the sliding rear window(manual)in the DCSB. I would have used it constantly, but it was out of distance so no use. I do like the simple window in the back. Simple to clean and if it breaks it would not cost as much to replace.

A friend of mine at work has a power sliding window on his tundra. He broke the middle glass and had to replace the whole back setup.

It depends on what you want to do with it. What are your goals/ideas for the truck?

    Thanks!

The best spots are the quiet spots. People focus (pun intended) in the popular spots example Mesa Arch in Canyonlands. I went to that spot and did not find it appealing. I go down the road find my own spot waited on the sunrise and got the pic on the first post as well as these..

    DSC00964.jpg

    DSC00955.jpg

It's not what other people believe is the right spot, but what you feel is the right spot. It gives it your perspective making your shot different.
