Also my little 5 lugger case back to the garage for some work.

@LogCabins got some XRunner shocks and springs for the front, and drop blocks and some pretty trick adjustable shocks for the rear.
He also cleaned it up real well and put some nice wheels and tires. Much better than the stock bicycle tires.
Came out real nice and rides pretty good too. I miss this little truck :( but I'm happy to see that it's being well taken care of

Front coils are new. Should settle a little.

Forgot to post this from last week. At full droop and turned all the way to passenger, the drag link was making contact with the passenger side steering arm, so I pulled it off the axle and gave it a nice chamfer in the mill. It ended up much bigger than what's in the pic, but I didn't get any other shots.
    IMG_2204.jpg IMG_2216.jpg
And then a shot of @1uzrnr catching weld spatter with his neck while welding in the tubing we used to notch the shock tower. The steering shaft runs through the tube, but I still need to support it with a bearing or heim joint.
    IMG_2251.jpg
I'll get a pic of the steering setup once it's all done.

Thanks bro, I really contemplated just hitting it with an angle grinder in place.. but fuck that  I'm glad I took it off. No one will notice cause it looks like it was made like that.

Some updates. Finally finished the steering, now just needs some touch up paint. The shock tower was notched for the steering shaft, and we though that it's probably a little stronger if we left the whole tube. And then I thought since we are gonna leave the whole tube with the shaft running through it, why not just make bushings instead of welding on heims or pillow blocks! So I made a quick delrin bushing, and it seems to work great. And if it wears out, I can make another in less than 10 minutes :D
    IMG_2374.jpg

    IMG_2379.jpg
I did eventually trim the corner off of the tubing cause I thought it was too close to the headers, and if I ever had to take off the headers for any reason, there would be no way to get them off.
    IMG_2373.jpg
I also got some custom length S/S braided brake lines in the mail today. I was gonna do hard lines down the top link, and then along the axle out to the calipers, but I would need 6 short flex lines at every joint. So I thought to just try some long ass braided lines instead. If it feels too spongy, I'll do the hard lines. I'm just trying to get this thing drivable so I can get it legal again. All my tags are expired
    IMG_2371.jpg
Gonna have to tack on some brake line clamps next.

If this doesn't win build of the year then I quit tacomaworld... for like a day or so, be real no one quits tacomaworld...

Seriously tho, the amount of detail and on the fly things you make turn out too perfect.

My real question and something Ive been wondering for a while, is there a lot of rock crawling to put the sas to the test in HI?

No big ass rocks like in the mainland, but we have lots of trails with deep cuts and ravines. Here's a sample and this is relatively mild to some of the other mountain trails we have that an IFS can't navigate..

Thanks man, that video Squint posted was the trip the made decide to SAS my truck. We showed that IFS trucks can do that trail with the right lines, and the guys have been hitting that trail lately and it's way worse than when that video was shot. SAS will make it way easy but still enjoyable, and I will be able to hit other rougher trails up there that you couldn't do IFS. Those are rocky. And my IFS buddies won't be able to follow me :D

Check Danas build thread, he just added my steering cooler to his stock system.
