Appears the OP has already had it fixed from warranty:

A little different than this guy purposely running over a pothole at 50MPH and claiming warranty:

There's video of a Prius outrunning police cars. Can the criminals who get run off the road in 30 seconds go ahead and partake in successful false advertisement litigation?

Not that I think this truck should have failed like this, but don't be basing it off the freaking commercials

Yeah it said "Prototype shown with options. Production models may vary".

Then it said. "Professional drivers on closed course. Do not attempt".

I feel sorry for those who spent $40k thinking they were getting prototype performance and quality when they got lesser production model performance and quality.

    I am agreeing with

if you bust a diff (and nothing else is smashed) that early, yes get it fixed

but if you plan on having it covered under warranty, videos like in this thread are a bad bad idea

I believe he waited until after it was fixed to post the video. Not to say someone isn't watching and taking note now...

How in the hell is the Toyota dealership going to find the video, why would they bother looking, and how could they possibly prove that a certain truck is a truck in the video?

You'd be surprised how manufacturers watch these forums. How many people with his name and same truck came in with a diff failure in his area in early january? Not hard to narrow it down.

The truck was already fixed. Are they going to deny his warranty and send him a bill?

A truck breaks using it as a truck. Don't see how they can deny coverage

No, he was smart enough to wait. But if this happens again, it's entirely possible this could be referenced.

Dang, I don't think that was anywhere near being enough abuse to do that kind of damage. Sure, it's not "intended use," so to speak, but it definitely shouldn't have done that.

I don't think so either, but it's a gray area.

Here's their golden ticket to get out of paying for something like this. They want you to check the tranny oil that you are not even allowed to check! haha!

What we don't know from the video is how much "drifting" he was doing prior to setting up the GoPro or how much abuse he had been putting it through. We only see the snippet when the damage occurred leading us to believe the diff failed from only a couple burnouts in the dirt. I highly doubt that...

I found it. you found it. the whole world found it.

what else do you need to know ?

shitballs you think toyota reps and engineers DON'T constantly watch active forums ? I have a bridge to sell you

protip on how things work in the big corporate world...anyone posts anything anywhere on the internet in any way, you can have monitoring software notify you immediately when [any phrase subject or topic] is posted [anywhere you want and even places you don't know about]

so for example someone busts a tacoma diff and talks about it, bam, everyone who wants to know about people posting about it, are notified. then the watchers can decide if they cae about the notification or not.

or anyone who posts anything about any toyota, good or bad. bam, copies sent to anyone who wants to know that stuff...

it's called big data and big data mining and yes it's real, and powered by huge intelligent systems like IBM watson for example, and mining this data gives the competitive edge to those who know how to use it.

in this specific thread and this specific example here, is someone watching and going to come down on OP ? who the hell knows, but the data and info is there, and the power do mine data exists and is in continual use. I cannot answer if it being used or not for any specific reason, but it is there and findable.

so, that is why I think it is ridiculous to post some spinouts and then say oh my diff broke....blahblahblah. why post up video evidence of your FACE and vehicle abuse ? I just don't get it. may as well drive right to the dealership and smash through the wall into the showroom then complain your tie rod is bent.

if I was spinning out, and my diff popped, you betcha ass my dash cam card will be erased, then I will bring it to a dealer for remedy. no evidence other than my word and the broken parts.
