How do you like it with the 315's? I'm will be going to that size soon and am having a hard time deciding on a ratio. So much conflicting info.

Quote bolded for emphasis, because if you look long enough that's what you'll find, and that is exactly what I found.

I'm not really into tuning/engine/drive train performance stuff so I'm probably not a great person to ask about that, as long as everything spins and the transmission isn't shifting stupidly I don't really care. That said, I don't have any complaints.

I mainly got the 4.56 since they are "stronger" and was the typical recommendation for automatics. Generally the recommendations I was seeing was 4.56 for Auto, 4.88 for manual. Occasionally I would see those swapped.

That's what I have been getting is a bunch of folks saying 4.88. I just don't want to end up stuck doing 55 mph everywhere I go.

There are plenty of people running both with no problems, you're just making a small sacrifice one way or the other.

I haven't found anyone local with that big of tires and gears to checkout how it feels.

4.88s on 35s and auto transmission here.
    80 mph is 3200 rpm.

I dunno the exact numbers, I'll take it on the freeway tomorrow or Friday and check, but I'm pretty damn sure it isn't close to 3200

Holy Lord man. You look at the first pictures and you're like, this dude is living the dream. And then i read the build and I'm like, what a friggin nightmare!!

Glad to see you pulled through. Great read. Your cynical attitude made me laugh quite a bit.

Did the calculation based on 4.56 and 5 gear without torque converter locked and corrected for 34.8 tires at 80 MPH is 2679 rpm. And for 33’s it is 2826.

    34.8 tires with 4.88 at 80 is 2867
    33 tires with 4.88 is 3024 rpm
    31 tires with 4.88 is 3219 rpm

So I don’t think jberry corrected for tire size... so he was really going 90 MPH.

That sounds close to what I generally see. Can't say I've ever looked and memorized what RPMs match up with what speeds, but ball parking it looks good

I can check again but I have a gps speedo and a UG that is calibrated.

Besides, toyotas love being at higher rpms. 3000 is nothing.

Here: 73.7 MPH (calibrated UG) and looks like about 2800 rpm

Huh. Gotta be due to torque convert slip. But whatever who really gives a shit. Didn’t build the truck fir highway numbers and gas mileage.
