I contacted Sherpa recently and they said..."We are in the process of finishing up all of our other racks for the campers before we release them. It should be pretty soon after we return from statewide shelter in place. I don’t have any numbers just yet but as a ballpark I would assume it’s going to be in the $300 range depending on size and camper. Don’t hold me to that as there is a lot that can change." If they can hit that price range, it'll be a great option!

I've also been talking with Martin Offroad about his racks. He said "I have a rack for you! I went back and confirmed the previous drifter rack was actually for a long bed as well. The rack will run $425 plus shipping, which includes powder coating, all hardware, and (4) crossbars. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to place an order!"

    Keep in mind, I have a DCLB so...YMMV. K, LOL TTYL! o_O

Wish I knew about this option before I bought the Prinsu Habitat. This one is $150 less and looks exactly the same

Would clearance between the camper and rack be an issue? Wouldn't want the rack to scrape up a$6k+ investment going over some bumps.

Clearance shouldn't be an issue since most of these camper racks are designed to end right where they meet the camper overhang. I shared the distance from the windshield and height above my roof with Martin offroad so he could make sure they'd play nicely together.

Many people with 3rd Gen's are running Prinsu rack's and they clear over the top of the rack. Unsure about 2nd Gen

No worries, nice to meet you Zack! I took the plastic caps off mine prior to getting the drifter and ran HVAC tape down the length of the bed on each side and also ran a bead of silicone caulk around the perimeter. Then you just poke holes in the HVAC tape where the clips from the bed cap slide in. They come off and go on very easily.

I reached out to Sherpa as well after seeing Ripcords shorty. Their stuff looks pretty well built. I’m also a DCLB so I’ll have to see what Martin Off-road has aswell. Sonia he saying he has one made for a Drifter on a DCLB or is he just saying the one he already has will work for it?

That's awesome to hear. Wish we lived close enough to check out the shop.

Bummed about Overland Expo being cancelled this year - was really looking forward to seeing the Drifter again in person (saw it last year). We wanted to place our order during the event as well, but understand the concerns.

Before I placed my order I had only been able to see one in person one time, I did a fair amount of reading and Googling and had pretty much ruled out all the other manufacturers. After seeing their shop and production process I was sold.

Anyone that’s having a hard time with the wait hold strong! It’s worth it completely and the Vagabond team are working hard daily to keep an awesome quality product rolling out the door.

I won’t speak for them but the last year and a half has been crazy for everyone. Even with all of it every camper that rolls out of the shop looks better than the last. Which is saying a lot since the first one to roll out was dialed. new improvements and refinements to production, material, and supply chain can only happen with time and hard work, both of which the VO guys are putting in.

We have one of the early units and have more nights in it than we can count at this point along with the other OG Drifters and they are still as awesome as the day we got them.

Im Stoked for everyone who has Pulled the trigger! Whether you have picked yours up or are patiently, painstakingly waiting for your day. It may not seem like it but the wait is only temporary and soon you’ll all be camping in style

I think he's saying both that he made one for a drifter on a DCLB and that it'll work. I sent him measurements and a close up of where the overhang.

Thanks Todd, and great meeting you as well! I tried to run Bennett Pass today but snow stopped me near the top (then it started snowing more... in June...crazy). Let me know if you want to run it once the snow clears and snag a camp spot with epic Hood views :bananadance:

If he did one for a drifter On a DCLB I wonder if he has any photos.

I like the Sherpa stuff a little more I think but we’ll see how long till they get something out there
