After months of debating about getting a drifter I finally pulled the trigger 2 days ago, order VO-247. Only regret is not doing it sooner. Thanks for everyone's input on this thread and the build thread, it helped tremendously in convincing me to get one. As I get ready to prep the truck I'm sure I'll have some questions being as I know absolutely nothing about this stuff. So in advance, thanks for being such a supportive community and helping others like me get outdoors and have fun

That’s my regret as well. I wish I ordered it in May last year instead of August. Maybe I would’ve got it by now lol!

Finally recieved my Drifter. Its been a long road but I finally have it! Thank you Phil and the crew at VB!

Next up is running elecrical power to the bed of the truck. My interior lights are not hooked up in the Drifter so I want to do electrical ASAP! Anyone have any good writeups for this??

I like the white since it’s glossy. At first I thought it was flat that’s why I did not want it. The gloss seems to get the dirt off easier off the surface of the paint. I think the black they use is more of a flat black without the gloss. Super glad I got the white PC. I almost didn’t get it.

I think what does it is the FR doors being black, breaks it up nicely. The all white ones I've seen, haven't perked my interest like yours did. Nice choice! I'll definitely keep giving it more thought, I still have a couple months.

    What order number are you?

Holy. I’m order 167 and put my deposit down back in September and heard around 10 months until completion. Hearing that 117 has only just been delivered means I have a looong way to go.

Don’t forget, COVID has put a damper on things like this... I hope that our state can stay as open and as safe as possible. But, sometimes safety usurps fun activities.

Totally understand that, I’m hoping that everyone stays safe and healthy and I’m happy that they can even continue to work. I’m just a little disheartened that I’m at the 10 month mark now and there are still 50 more campers to go which is almost 50% of the campers that have already been completed to date.

Looks like Vagabond wasn't impacted by the latest announcements by Newsom today, hope they are staying safe. That's paramount. I'm sure I'll get by in a tent until they get to mine (order 175, September 2019...). :)

In the meantime, can anyone provide some details/point to some details or a post on how Vagabond sets up the wiring inside the camper? Going to install a dual battery system in the meantime, and the unknowns of not having the camper is a blocker for me right now. I want to make sure I can accommodate for the solar pre-wire, power for fan, lights, and make minimal changes when I get it.

I just picked mine up last week and got pre-wired for solar and don't have my dual battery set up yet. If you know which setup you are going to use (where you are locating your accessory battery) they will run wiring to that location. I wired to my start battery (which will be my accessory battery later) and they put a temporary fuse box and wiring to the location in the bed I want to put my solar controls. If you aren't certain where you want to locate your batteries, they offered to just leave the extra wiring spooled up and cap it.

I picked up my Drifter last week and took the rest of the week off to try it out. It is every bit as awesome as I had imagined. I know first hand it is hard not to get impatient and frustrated with the wait but it will be worth it. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and safe. The funny part was once I had been waiting forever, I had to wait two more weeks after it was done to pick up due to my work schedule.

Phil let me pick out a powdercoat color and it came out as an awesome match to the cement Tacoma.

By any chance do you have pix of “pre-wired for solar”? Does that mean they run cables up through the roof or just have cables inside? Just wondering if it’s an option I want to opt for. I haven’t really seen any pix in this thread about it. Thanks!

I don't have pictures of mine yet but @MapJunkie put pictures of it in the buildout thread. They add a gland to keep water out and they put the holes in the roof and run the wiring to where you want it. I upgraded to 6 gauge wiring as well.
