There are a ton of different accessories for L-Track. There are numerous ways to attach cross bars.

I used L-Track stud fittings and angle iron to mount two solar panels up top.

    Drifter....ARRIVED!
    Hi All,

We sold our 1985 vanagon. I'm still a bit traumatized, but convinced it was the right decision.

A shout out to Brian (danneskjold) for showing us his Drifter and set up. Brian you have an awesome rig, Drifter and set up! Thanks again for making time to show it to us.

    Iggy/Drifter Gurus, A few questions:
    • We want to confirm the Drifter crosses generations? That is, would a Drifter bought for a 2nd gen fit a 3rd gen as well? We are trying to manage the budget and may start with an older Tacoma.
    • Can you order the Drifter for a Tacoma access cab? Is it different than what would fit a double cab? Also thinking about future possibilities if the pups can't deal with an access cab.
    • Perhaps blasphemy on this forum, but could you buy a Drifter for a Tundra? If possible in the future, is there an ETA for this?
    Best, Christy

Thanks @danneskjold for showing Christy the Drifter! Definitely agree that Brian has an awesome rig and it has come a long way in a short time.

Christy, congrats on the sale of the Vanagon! My roomate/ best friend in college had a Westy and I definitely have a soft spot for those vehicles.
    • The Drifter does cross generations. We change the formed aluminum piece, that attaches to the bottom of the standard rear glass window, to match the different tailgates. All you would have to change is that part to go from 2nd to 3rd gen. The Drifter is definitely built to outlast our trucks.
    • The DCLB's and access cabs have beds with the same dimension. Check out @Iggy 's truck. It is an access cab and the first longbed we built.
    • If Toyota is a religion, the Tundra is the holy ghost. Or maybe the father. Not sure how this works. ;) We are building a camper for Tundras though. ETA for placing orders for Old Testament (1st gen) Tundras is next week. The 2nd & 3rd gens will be in a month or so.

I've shown mine off to a couple folks on here, and one of the questions is "knowing what you know how, what would you do different?"

    1. If you're going to get an awning, just have it shipped to Vagabond and pay to have Phil and crew install it. It's a lot easier to mount before the roof goes on.

    2. If you are going to run solar panels have them pre wire it. If you get the fan (which you should) they would just need to install a cable gland and run an extra bit of cable through the cab-over portion and out the center of the roof - once the roof panel is installed you lose access to the inside/center of the roof and it will be much cleaner that way.

    3. See if they can add carpeting to the top. Further insulates the roof, and gives a convenient mounting place for an iPad, patches, or BROG zipper bags

I don't know what either of that stuff will cost, but in my opinion it would be worth it in the end.
