This is exactly what I did. Mother in law made these for both the passenger windoor and the rear window. One is mesh with a velcro perimeter to serve as a screen, and one is just cloth with the same velcro perimeter to serve as a curtain.

I wish I could get my mother in law to make some screens for me. I have a feeling she doesn’t understand what my truck is for and why it has all this “stuff” all over it...

I do plan to use the 3M magnetic tape to adhere my homemade screens for summertime camping. But, the truth for me is, most summertime camping is with my family and that means RV rentals and stuff like that. One of the reasons why I love winter camping so much is that there are no mosquitos...

A few months into Drifter ownership and I couldn't be happier. Those those contemplating rear suspension setups, go with Deaver. I still haven't built my interior and find the All Pro Expo leaf pack to be flatening out with the weight of the Drifter + HC rear bumper and 35s. Something like Dakkar HD or an Icon AAL are clearly not going to support the weight in the medium to long term.

Could she make one for the back like those magnetic screen doors? My mom has one and I must say it's pretty convenient.

The one I have for the rear window is kind of dual purpose. It can be mounted so it covers the back window (vertical) or it can be mounted so it covers the 30" opening when the bed is deployed (horizontal). This is because with the tailgate open and back window open, the tent is essentially open game for bugs. This allows for the lower living space to be opened up while blocking bugs from going up top.

Let me see if I can find a picture of it on my phone.

*EDIT* Kind of a crap picture, but you get the idea (excuse the mess)

I am in the same boat. Scheduled to have my Drifter pick up at the end of Feb 2019. I too thought it strange to pay sales tax for something I have to pick up as shipping wasn’t available when I paid for my Drifter build.

Taxes are wack and confusing. When I lived in Wyoming I bought a car in Colorado, but had to pay Wyoming sales tax :annoyed:

I didn't even think about that. That's an additional $650+ in purchase price of the Drifter for CA/Vacaville sales taxes.

I'm a long ways out but I take it you get communication as your day approaches for pick up?

The communication and customer service from the Vagabond Outdoors crew is second to none! You will not be left out in the cold.

Also one of the best benefits of the Drifter....cold weather camping is easy and comfortable

Cold weather camping, sw, cali, haha. All relativs I suppose!!

On a side note was minus 10 celsius (no idea what that is in farheneit, guessing close to zero?) lastnight at one of my fav roadsite campgrounds on sr89. Third time I’ve camped there while passing thru. Fired up the old buddy heater, opened some windows up and i must say the condensation was minimum, but still more then i woukd like to see on the roof. No dripping though. It’s a temp solution for me, i’m hoping to rock out skme -20/30 celsius nights back in canada this winter, currently enroute to DV and a few ither places for the holidays then back to aee the fam, when i can fly with the dog in Canada. Apparnelty therr are flight restrictions for the holidays for a 3-4wk span, was going to drive but thats a 5 day there and back with a puppers in tow.

That's only +14 degrees F. I've camped in a tent on the ground in colder than that.

I was just in 16 degree weather the other weekend with a buddy heater in my Drifter. No big deal. We have cold weather here in California to man....

I’ve slept in 0 degree temps in my RTT. Got out to pee in the birthday suit. Took a while, but got it handled.
    -10 celsius is easy.

Ps. I grew up in Minnesota....-20 to 30 celsius is cute :p

+16 is not cold, that's almost shorts weather. Not starting a dick measuring contest, it's too cold for that and it's not impressive to begin with.
