Do you have any pictures of your interior buildout? It looks like you have found a way have furniture and access your stuff from the sides at the same time. Genius.

The wrap looks great. You mind sharing how much it cost and where you got it done? I live in the bay area. If you were to do it again would you powder coat over wrap? Thanks!

I would want to confirm that the powdercoat is all of the aluminum parts (top roof, top overhang, sides, etc) before I say that I would 100% powdercoat to protect the aluminum. Wrap would be a pain to cover everything and probably cost more to have someone do that than just ordering with powdercoat.

Now if you already have a Drifter...

I have the dual standard glass windoors as mentioned, here's a pic

    20190116_090849.jpg

Also, I know many of you are cyclists and wonder if your bike will fit. Not sure if these measurements were every listed so...

On my truck, 2nd gen with stock plastic bed caps:
Entrance = 38 inches from tailgate up to bottom of window frame
Under bed platform = almost 41.5 inches from the top of the ridges on the composite bed (if you have bed mat and/base plate you will need to subtract that thickness)

Oh yeah a KLR is a bit heavier than a KTM 300 lol

I was playing around with the hitch rack I have and I think I will be changing it up a bit. I don't love how the rack I have fits with my swing out and may be better suited with a more basic hitch hauler

the rack I have is a restored "tail mate" which is most closely compared to the "ultimate MX hauler"

    https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-MX-Hauler-Black/dp/B0039L7SFW

I made a drop hitch for it that would bring it down low enough to open my swing out and tailgate without coming into contact. Its all fastened together with Grade 8 and is solid, I just don't love the fit up with the drop hitch. I need to take some measurements but I may go back to an aluminum hitch rack like I used to have.

You can see it in the lowered position here. works as a nice step although my alubox that is typically my step goes elsewhere when its on. Last weekend was the first time a windoor would have been nice since I have to unload the bike to be able to access the back at all.

Cost = more expensive than the now available powder coat.

Worth it = No. Not when the now available powdercoat costs less than what I paid and I would get better quality protection from the powdercoat.

Do it again = I would not wrap. I would powdercoat.

Where it was done = ColorZone in Benicia. Do not go to them.

Well, that was super clear. Much appreciated. Makes my decision easy. Thanks

There are some good pics in the below posts.
I've still got a lot of little things that I need to get done, but my hours at work are ridiculous December through March, so it might be a while.

Order placed! I believe I am order #42 (per my customer number on the website). If 28 have been shipped to date, I have 14 units ahead of me.

Thanks to all the owners who responded to my request about windows. I decided to put off the decision for a few months. I will add them to my order once I figure out the details. So many choices, each with their pros and cons.

I am excited to join those waiting for their Drifter! At least I don't have to wait for hundreds of units to be produced. I had a deposit in with another company, but decided it wouldn't be able to support my winter camping habit :) Full insulation needed all around. Slow and steady wins the race.

I'm on similar thinking with you - both with the winter camping and getting one this year. Tax time can't come soon enough so I can actually know what my year is looking like.

What's this about a customer number? I didn't know the VO site had a customer login. I am interested to know about this. Is there customer section?

Indeed, when I placed my order, I received a link to the Vagabond Outdoors Customer Portal.

It looks like this. Note that some of the areas are currently blank (like Downloads) but I can see my order details.
