Yeah there is an RV one though that goes through, Walmart’s, Home Depots, Cabelas, e5c and what you can and can’t do. I’ll find it again was a useful app I had on my old phone, which I lost and I never reinstalled.

Does anyone have experience with the FrontRunner Awnings? Phil mentioned that Vagabond sells them, but I have never seen one. I am comparing them to the ARB awnings with a similar price point. Are they preferable over ARB?

I am planning on installing my awning on the driver's side so the Tacoma blocks the sun late in the day.

They are similar to all of the other awnings. Not much difference, if any, to the other offerings. Alucab, Eezi-awn, and Fiamma are completely different, and at a different price point.

One main difference is the color of the cover.

I have the 2.5 meter and will be installing a 1.4 meter awning to the rear. The tent walls/ screen room are not available for the 1.4 meter. But the sides of those setups will work. Going to modify the rear part to make it fit. @Eazy.E ’s setup seems to be perfect.

Also trying to adapt the swinging mount.

    Thanks buddy!

As a general note, I have the 6’ ARB awning. Aside from already having that size from our previous build, the 6’ awning (when mounted to the rear of the drifter) gives enough coverage side to side to cover my swing out and table as well as full coverage over the tailgate. This really only works if you have a modular awning mount or swinging mount as Phil notes so you can move the awning to the side when traveling. I really need to get a video up of the modular mounts.

Otherwise you would have around 1.5 ft of awning hanging out just begging to catch a tree. The 6ft delux arb room we have works really will in this configuration as well. The “car side” opening is the right size to fit around the tailgate and hatch. We typically set it up inside of the swing out and unzip a wall to access the swing out table if needed for cooking. It can also be set up with the swing out inside the tent but takes a little more finagling to install.

With the room it still only takes us about 10 min to have everything set including staking the room down.

We tend to only use the room when we are staying in one place for a while or if it’s nasty outside

I love this setup! Didn’t realize it was a 6’ awning you could swing from the side to the back. Interested to see the mounts you have for this
I’ve been looking for a similar “room” setup to do with my 4’ mounted on the rear just to have the extra eclosed space if stationary for a while. Haven’t found anything yet.

Thanks is for all the pics and ideas on awnings. I had never seen the FrontRnner swinging mount. But $700 might be a bit steep for me. I am much more interested in the modular awning mount. Is that an ARB product? I assume you install mounts in the back and side. This would then allow you to easily move the awning from the side to the back?

Thanks Man! I do not have the the front runner swing. Mine is a pretty simple solution that locks into place with a pin and allows you to "lock" the awning as well. I Use a gun lock (honest person honest as always)

I have not seen a room offered for the 4' awning, I have seen some individual walls though.

The modular mounts are not an ARB product and should work with most awnings of similar design. You are correct, you install the receiver mount on all three sides and can move from side to side in seconds. I did see ARB released a modular mount of some sort recently but its a different design than this. Ill try and get some more info up on them soon and maybe a video of the change out :)

Undecided, basically just throwing a string of good trails together in southern bc. More then likely late summer, i’m Not really planning on this being a huge get together, just if guys are interested in exploring southern bc, i’ll Have a trail system linked together, camp spots, etc.

Here’s mine around a windoor. You can kind of imagine what the other side without the windoor looks like
