So to get this thread back on track and to make sure that everyone is on the same wave length ew need to steer this back to barn doors on the rear of the drifter!

I just wouldn’t want to be driving near a polished Drifter reflecting a low afternoon or winter sun. Those ‘80’s Toyota pickups with the vertical, flat chrome number surface as bad enough. At least Airstreams and tanker trucks have convex curves.

Barn doors or a hatch would make the Drifter perfect!

Hatch!!! Acts like a mini awning over your swing out kitchen, be even handier if you mounted some lights on it over your kitchen

I know it's a long shot, but is anyone interested in trading their drifter for a four wheel camper Eagle (the older, narrower model).

Look at the cost of a built up contractor shell with an alu cab tent bolted to it. Then look at the cost of a four wheel camper, earthcruiser, all terain camper, or Khaya camper. Less than the cost of a new dirt bike for something you could live in.

    Hey all.
Been looking around this thread a while.
For reference sake and order frequency:
    Order #VO-104 (February 8, 2019)

Yup, a bit o cash, to be sure. But as frusteri4 said, do the comparison.
    Now for patience.☺️

    Btw: $7G, without amenities.

    Thanks, guys.
Probably do not have a lot to contribute as I am not much of an innovator.
However, I sure do appreciate all of you who have been so generous with your time spent posting as well as your ideas put up here.
Who knows? With all this time to wait I may come up with a thing or two.
For the record, I am all for the barn doors...

Use kedder rail on the internal side of the hatch and then use lightweight nylon/netting with kedder welt for walls.

Maybe a tent wood stove for colder temps.

Does anyone know the amperage draw from the upper and lower lights? I am working out how big my solar panels need to be. I couldn't find any prior discussions on the forum, or on the Vagabond site. Thanks.

Not sure, I had the fan and all my lights on at one time in the fall and blew the fuse, which was rated to 5a. there is now a 10amp fuse in there.

When I was up there last week, Phil mentioned that a 10a generally covers all the built-in electrical within the camper. He also said the fan is internally fused as well.

Super stoked to be on track to put in my order next week. Finally got the house sold after the divorce was finalized. Can't wait to log some trips with just my son and I.

As with everybody else, I've been trying to decide on the side options. Now that I've decided to go with access to the sides, it comes down to the solid vs glass for me. Leaning towards the glass, mostly for visibility purposes.

I don't have much of an interior plan except for a Goose Gear Camp Kitchen. As I don't have a fridge, I'm going to store my water where the fridge would be to keep the swingout free for fuel on the longer trips. Water pump all ready to go with quick disconnect lines mounted to bumper on the side. Trying to keep it minimal as I figure out my gear pack also.
Pic of water lines. Will eventually add air lines to the passenger side when I get an OBA setup going.
