To chime in on the oil debate I can maybe get 7k miles to a change and that's with amsoil or Mobil 1 fully syn. And Toyota oil filter. There were high metal and silica levels in every test I had done by blackstone.

Kinda what we figured since most of mine is high rpm to redline and desert driving. Didnt matter which filters either. Now that I have an UMP filter and new intake Im going to change the oil soon and then that 5000 miles will be another test. Already have the test kit sitting here lol

Silica is not necessarily from dirt. Gasket sealers, oil additives and oil and valve cover gaskets can be sources of silicon presence in motor oil:

Article is good. From the article:

"Silicone-based gasket sealers (red, blue, or clear) used in engine assembly and repair, show up as high silicon in an oil sample. Any oil sample taken from a new, rebuilt, or repaired engine typically reads high in silicon. Oil from some types of new engines may contain as much as 400 ppm silicon. You can ignore the high silicon in these cases since it is harmless and will wash away by the third or fourth oil in the engine."

In @nfs257 's case I'd wager that it's almost certainly from desert dust. If Blackstone saw his truck, or a video of it in action, I bet their eyes would pop a little.

I know it's happened to me and I'm sure many others, that when swapping air filters, that permanent screen on the intake, behind the air filter has become slightly soiled.

I've even swapped an air filter out from one outing in the Yuha desert, destroyed on one day in a dust storm.

The paper filters are really good, but in the end it's Toyota, not NASA, so I think some desert dust is gettin' in. :D

Thanks for the link to the UOA thread. Too bad there isn't more traction there.

I'll think about doing a UOA in the future when the time comes. :)

It will be great to get the old ones out, and cross another project off the list.

There is a good install thread going on over here.

    EDIT: Add Tech info.

    Ha-Ha!

If they are anything but completely silent, I'll burn them on the truck! :D

There were noises reported with them, but it turns out people were dramatically over tightining them by as much as 2.5x!

    Stuff. Also things.
You're gonna love those once they're on. I changed mine and immediately noticed a dramatic reduction in higher frequency vibration. Just be sure to use your PTFE grease on any of the metal/poly interfaces.

Side note: I had to buy a new set of mount hardware because I was sleep deprived and torqued one to 90 when I thought I had 40 dialed in. Snapped the bolt after the nut tried to pull itself through the washer... Lesson learned.

@Crom my intake setup is a a little different now lol they have videos of pouring a bag of sand in the intake and a secondary filter that never even gets dirty. Lol

Also yell at me when you need help. I work 3 days on 3 days off.

Thanks for the tips. Your post prompted me to go look up the part numbers for the non-reusable nuts on the body mount bolts. Turns out they are the same as the radiator bushing bolts.

If Toyota only knew how many times I reused the radiator bushing bolt nuts, they'd probably :goingcrazy:

Post above updated with diagram, parts, prices, etc.

    That's incredible!

So your air intake is like NASA approved!  love your truck man, can't wait to see it person one of these days. And thanks for the help offer. I'm definitely gonna need some hep, so I'll keep you posted, etc.

Pretty sure I've asked you this before, but I couldn't find it. You're running 6 or 8 oz. of dynabeads per tire? I called the company, but they weren't much help.
