Good call. I actually forgot that I could edit it through photobucket. done

Thanks.... My daily commute is about 10mi each way, or about 20-25 mins. I'm sure w/ a solid OCI and good products, you'll be just fine :)

I figured you'd rather leave your address and phone number out of plain view (I see the poster above you did the same thing :D). I used to work at a PD and I've heard the stories about officers getting hate mail, etc...

My "commute" is about, oh...3mi/5min or so. I'm running Mobil 1 Conventional 5W-30 but I change it every 3mo/3k.

This thread died abruptly. Any interest in getting it going? I am going to start analyzing my oil, but I purchased the Wix oil analysis kit from Amazon.

I'm 5K miles away from testing my oil. I will post my results in a few months.

Just ordered a kit for my 09 Prerunner, it's new to me so I'm interested to see what's happening with the engine. It seems to have a strong motor, no issues since I bought it in April.

25 bucks to reveal all of those elements is unbelievably cheap.

Here's the latest on mine...I have been doing them very frequently, including the initial factory fill, just because I am curious how long the break-in process takes.

Are you taking samples without doing a full drain and fill? If so, how are you taking the samples?

Edit: Never mind. After reading your report in more detail I see your doing a full oil change.

    TheTrooper -

Yes - doing a full oil and filter change after the sample is taken. I am changing it out frequently during the break-in process to get the break-in remnants and traces of factory fill oil out. Beginning with the current fill, I will now be doing 5K intervals.

I extract the sample by inserting a plastic tube down the dipstick tube and using a handheld pump to pull the sample into the container. I'm currently using Mobil M1-209 filters. I'm hoping the levels of copper and silicon will come down. I suspect the copper is coming from the oil cooler under the oil filter.

I like how Blackstone has that comment section where a real human looks at your results and comments on the observable data. I'm hoping the Wix test folks have a similar outline. There kit is $19 on Amazon and is prepaid. The price includes the TBN #.

    Too few to list.
I've read that 0-40W oil comes from good base. It's just too heavy of an oil to use for daily driving. The mustang guys use this weight on their V8's for drag and track.

jetty those #s look great for that many miles and the severe duty usage. I am surprised that with a TBN of 1.0, Blackstone says you can go another 2K miles. From what I have read, a 1.0 is when you want to change the oil, especially with your towing usage. Matter of fact, I would change the oil at 10K for a little large margin of error. What type oil filter you using? Thanks for sharing.

Here is my oil analysis. Oil had 10K miles; Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5-30 and had an oil filter change (Wix std filters) at 5K with about .2 qts make up oil. TBN shows I could have gone some more distance but 10K is a good round #. Iron looks high; I'll look into that.

I'm now running Valvoline Max Life 5-30, with a synthetic Mobil 1 oil filter; I'm going the entire 10K with same OF and will submit another oil sample.

My truck's first analysis. It's not an issue, but what would make the viscosity go up?
