Hard mounting the compressor bears additional financial cost for all the parts and pieces. I didn't add it all up, but it's all in the parts project list I posted.

On the upside though hard mounting gains you speed, so you spend less time at the trail head airing back up. And for me, time is my most precious resource. Hard mounting also saved some space in the back of the truck, and I no longer have to lug the 20 lb. compressor around.

In October 2015 when I first got the ARB I built it into a portable system that clipped to the battery. It was no cost to me, and easy to do.

ARB Twin Air Compressor portable, and here.

Since your just starting out, I recommend one of the portable Viair ones. They work great, and if you end up graduating to a more powerful system, it can be backup, sold, or given away.

I have a cheapo $30 walmart one right now takes about 10 minutes to air up a tire lol. Thanks for the option, and the lists of everything. We still need to meet up one day man, I wanna see your build in full detail (with no fog, rain, or golden acorn parking lot haha)

Auxiliary secondary door seals, Nov 2015

The devil is in the details on that one. If you want to do one better, find out if the doors on a 2016 are a match for the 05+. If they are, then we'll find the part number for the 2016 weather seals and buy and use those on our trucks.

From, I have been following your thread as I just bought a 2016 DCSB and have some of the same goals ... dust-proofing, OBA, organized storage of "stuff", etc though I don't intend to mod suspension or fit larger diameter tires (in fact I've semi-seriously considered swapping over my steelies and 245/75's from my old T100 onto the Taco ...). Stock TRD OR suspension and OEM Wranglers at 38 psi rode like a cloud on Saline Valley washboard. Thanks for the detail, pictures and thoughtful analysis. Like the trip pictures too! Anyway, after about 1500 miles on my truck including about 150 off-pavement in DV, I think my door seals seem to keep the cab very quiet and dust-free. With one exception, very strong crosswinds on 395 south of Olancha two weeks ago did occasionally induce the "crosswind kazoo" sound, for a few seconds at a time. Anyway, if you have any questions or want to see pics of my seals let me know. FYI, my T100 XtraCab (i.e. 2 doors) had very tight doors; our son was always impressed that it had less wind noise and road noise (mild Michelin AT tires) than our other two cars, a VW and a Prius, even though the T100 is almost 20 years old with original seals.

The bed of the Taco, on the other hand is a total dust magnet despite doing some sealing, so I'll be doing a lot more work on that. I do have one question: when you leave your shell slider open,do you have any water leaks in heavy rain? My bed leaked water as well as dust, though the sealing I have done (3M self-sealing tape works well) stopped most of that.

    Thanks again!

Welcome. Never had a problem with water coming the little window during rain. I leave it open 24/7/365 even when I wash the truck. My kids will go back there sometimes when I'm washing it, and they tell me that some water will splash in if I spray between the shell and cab, but it's never ever caused me any concern. I suspect it has to do with the angle of the the glass where the bottom is tiled back, and the top forward if truck is level like this: /

I'm going to feature some others trucks here in my build. The reason for that is because I have to make some introductions to tell an upcoming trip report. :)

@GHOST SHIP 's DCSB 2015 Super clean. After having met Ghost, I can tell you his appearance is that of a ghost, or illusion, without material substance, as a dream image, mirage, or optical illusion. I have even witnessed the truck perform ultra-slick mods in a ghostly fashion. Now you see it, now you don't. More to come. ;)
