It’s 2022 (I think). I can’t buy a truck where intermittent wipers are an option.

I don't see the appeal of SR's or access cabs.

Go to the bank, secure a loan, and go buy whatever you want. If you can't get a loan,,, you don't need a new truck anyways, especially in this over inflated market.

This right here. I just put money down on an SR about a month ago and waiting on it. This was my feeling. The difference between the two wasn't worth it to step up 4/5K. You might as well go with the sport or OR for 6/7k more if you're going to go that route. The dealer I went to, The SR was 35K and the SR5's were around 38/39, and the OR were anywhere from 40-42k depending on add on options. I figured the things I wanted in the truck I could add on for less than 7K total.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the SR. Only factory option it truly needs to be a very nice truck is the $230 keyless entry so you can push a button on the key to lock/unlock all doors.

Absolute MONEY!!!! Thank you for posting this!

This is why I am questioning the scenario I was presented... but then makes me ask, why even have a "Build it your way" option???

How did you go about doing this?

    Great point!

Yeah, what is that even about?!?

The brochure shows that the SR has the Deck rail system, Backup camera, and Tire Pressure Monitors, but the SR5 doesn't? How is that a thing???

I am starting to figure some of this out... like $700 running boards?!?!? GTFOH!

Anyway, I really appreciate all the feedback and input!!!

This is looking to be a great forum!

I just picked up my new SR DblCab 4x4 this past monday. MSRP was $35,097 (and that's what they charged me). It included the all-weather mats/door sill protectors, LED bed lights and a quick charge cord for your smart phone. It has all the Toyota Safety Sense incl adaptive cruise STANDARD. You give up a powered seat compared to the SR5 and alloy wheels and maybe another item or two. Note the SR is ONLY available in short bed(atleast here in the US...in Canada you can get an SR long bed). An SR5 will be about $2500 more from what I see base to base. I don't think you can go wrong with either. It comes down to personal preference.

get SR5 if you want to see individual tire pressure from the gauges, SR lacking that feature sucks

That is indeed a cool/good feature that I failed to realize the SR5 has - the SR definitely does not have it

get a SR with the engine and cab/bed configure you want the rest can be added for cheaper then what the dealership will charge you.
for example the steps I wanted the dealership wanted $750 plus while I could find them for less then $400 and installed in 45 min

this is what we're talking about, if that's important to you choose SR5 or go aftermarket route, I tried bluetooth OBD2 scanner thingy, horrible connection consistency, maybe

hardwire tapping into OBD2 from aftermarket radio is more stable connection, that's worth it

That's important to you? Different strokes no doubt. I check the tires once every couple months and never find myself fretting about whether a tire has 2 psi more than the others.

think of it like it has everything the SR has + what is listed.
