Then your problem lies elsewhere. Have you checked the radiator mount?

Same here! I have Elka suspension with spherical bearings. Changed to the longer 4Runner bolt and I’ve been click free for months. Before I replaced the bolt I didn’t even get 20K out of my spherical bearings before needing to be replaced. After the bolt swap I’m now at 25k and no sign of needing to be replaced

Some have also said a lose skid plate caused the issue. You should check that too.

I don’t really care anymore, but mine is not the bushing. It is the spring perch. Been a year of it clicking and I will just let it be.

just finding this thread now and so glad i did. i’ve got a 2018, swapped to some flat out suspension about a year ago and started noticing this noise about 6 months ago. figured it wasn’t anything to be concerned about since i’ve taken the truck on numerous road trips and offroad with no issues. anyone else got clips of the noise to show what it sounds like? wondering if ill need to swap the bolt or bushing altogether. will try to get a video tomorrow

This issue is more a click, not a clunk sound.

Pedro, la yerba buena made me forget to mention to check the sway bar end links as well. Probably good practice to swap those out if your 3rd Gen is on the older side.

I don’t have a sway bar and my truck still made the clicking sound. Took the sway bar off almost 3 years ago when I installed my elka lift kit. You could check your sway bar end links. For me it was definitely the lower shock spherical bearing. I was chasing that sound for a few years. As soon as I replaced the bolt all clicking went away. It’s been dead silent for the past 8 months. Just my two cents

True true. I mentioned it as it looks like a suspension component that would not last several years of wheeling and “could” cause a sound.

I myself keep the sway bar intact as it helps in canyon driving when I have to speed up to keep up with the flow of traffic. Heads think a Tacoma can’t take tight turns quickly…add the KDMAX PRO Sport + tune and

Also worth checking is the heat shield near the driver side catalytic converter. Mines loose and makes noise when hitting bumps as well. Less click, more clang to the sound, but if that's what you're hearing, then look there.

I have the Fox PE’s and I am having this issue if it’s the same problem as the others. I am going to try the bolts and hope it’s that.

UPDATE: I torqued all the skid plate bolts and it solved the issue. I bought the bolts from Toyota for the lower shock mount but didn’t need them.

I have quite a loud click that occurs when you stuff the front suspension hard. 2021 with 40k on the truck. Doesn’t matter if the wheels are turned or not. Happens both on the left and right side. Is that what these bolts are supposed to help with? Or would that be something else?

Just bought a truck and this would explain the click. Thank you

It could be something else. Is it a click or a clunk? I resolved my clicking noise with the 4Runner bolts, but then I had a clunk that would periodically happen. Couldn’t track it down for the past 20k. It would happen going over larger bumps/potholes or it was very apparent while off-road. I finally figured it out after I dropped my engine skid plate and took a crowbar to under my front diff. The rear bolt on the diff was moving within the frame mount. The diff is mounted to a thin piece of metal and I guess it ovalized with all the off-road I’ve done. I ended up installing in the Welds Taco front diff reinforcement kit. It’s a plate and tube that gets welded inside the frame mount :welder:I have put 10k on since the install and can happily say my truck is silent free. It’s as quiet as a mouse now :woot: the welding is not pretty but it’s solid. I do have to admit welding upside down is very difficult! I hope this helps out a few people!!!!

I am thinking it is more of a clicking, but I will definitely take a look at the diff mount. That kit looks awesome, thank you for the heads up!!
