I did this with my stock head unit in my Corolla. It was decent.

It’s called a line out converter. That’s what I used on stewie to add a 10” sub to the factory system.
Decent, yeah. Nothing crazy technical but definitely more fun than green ridge

no idea dude, I have only ever wired in sound systems with aftermarket HU's  I feel like the sound quality would be meh with a factory unit. but all my systems in the past were too powerful for the stock HU but that was also 10 years ago. I haven't touched car audio in about 6 years and it was in a 99' Jimmy so it was basic shit. shits gone ahead and gotten all fancy, so many options and it got all technical. I miss not educating myself and just buying whats on sale at radio shack and being happy. I never knew about tuning the system. all I cared about was da BOOOM BOOOOM BOOOOM

Just seems more fitting for a rugged truck. I guess it could be a female if her name was Olga. Plus stewie got his name from his license plate, COO HWIP

Yeah same here I always ran everything with aftermarket head units but ran really high end stuff. There is so much stuff now to figure out so confusing. I like being able to go into brick and mortar and talking with someone and them actually showing me so I can understand better rather than just reading.

My daughter named my truck Grey Belle, truck is silver and our dog's name is belle so yeah that's my trucks name. Otherwise I have never named a single vehicle I have ever owned and I have had over 50.

yeah I agree, it would be nice to just spend a day in a car audio shop and hang out with the install guys and have them explain everything, then I could hear the difference while they explain what they are adjusting and shit. I can only understand so much when I'm reading something online without being able to hear or touch or see what they are talking about lol hands on is the way to go, being able to do both is even better, read a bit then go apply said knowledge in a shop, read a bit more and so on. that's why I did so well in school for HVAC, spent the morning in class, then afternoon in the shop putting that knowledge to use.

Yeah same but there aren't really any good ones around anymore. I understand the adjusting the amps and all that I use to have the old school equipment for doing that. I am sure that has changed over the yrs as well. It's been almost 20 yrs since I've messed with a stereo besides installing an aftermarket one in a vehicle or 2. Hell my old alpine went in 6 different vehicles and lasted 15 yrs. before it finally died. I am an Alpine guy when it comes to headunits and then love JL for subs and Infinity for the other speakers. Now there are so many new names to the game that seem to be surpassing Infinity and JL

I don't think I'll invest money in sound again lol but I have that old sub in my parents shed with an ampli I could bring back in my garage and build a low profil box to fit it under the passenger seat:rolleyes:
