    The rear 5100s are good with a stock leaf pack with AAL, so like 1.5-2” lift.

    Yes you certainly could. It’s not ideal but you’re not going to break anything. Your shock will be the limiting factor in down travel while off road. Eventually the shock may need replacing from being over extended a lot, but it’s nothing catastrophic and that’s really if you regularly go off road and are lifting rear tires. I know a few people with stock shocks and aal.

    More than likely no one is gonna want 13 year old shocks. Here’s what I recommend for you and what I recommend to everyone in the same boat as you. I didn’t realize at first your truck was an 06 so your suspension is likely tired and rusty.

    Front:
    5100 set at 0
    OME 884 coils
    Buy them assembled because your top hat/hardware is likely trashed and rusty

    Rear:
    5100
    2” single aal

    That is the exact set up I had when I first got the truck and I loved it. It’s an excellent budget solution. Then you can upgrade pieces over time if you please.

    Ideally a new leaf pack in the rear would be what you do, but you’re ballin on a budget. We’ve all been there.

    This is the lift I posted above. Tires are 255/80r17 (33” diameter)

    yes, yes, and most definitely lol

    helium yes, but it has to be in the tires.

    what @ovrlndkull said.

    the most cost effective lift out there that's actually a decent quality would be the Bilstein 5100 lift (which I have). Most people get the 5100 with Old Man Emu springs and leave the adjustment set to 0 (gains about 3'' lift, usually a little less) cuz the spring is longer then stock and does the lifting. you can save money and put the stock spring on the coil over but you will have to adjust the spring perch to a higher setting then 0 to gain lift, it preloads the coil and could give you a stiffer ride compared to the Old Man Emu springs. when it comes to suspension, you get what you pay for, if u cut corners to save money, you will sacrifice ride quality. now, keep in mind, these Old Man Emu springs have different heights and weight ratings. I have the 887's on a Double Cab Long Bed and I got 2.75" of lift and its rated for 590lbs which is the ideal weight rating if you don't have any extra weight upfront (plate bumper/winch)

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-do-i-know-my-spring-rate-ome-coils.477043/#post-14481742

    don't get too overwhelmed once u start reading on here about vibrations caused by lifting the truck. a diff drop is not necessary. a sway bar relocate bracket is not necessary unless you plan on running fox or king 2.5's. The taco lean is real so I would have a 1/4'' top plate spacer just in case. you will not NEED new UCA's right at the beginning and those can be added later. there are plenty of folks running this lift with stock UCA's.

    in regards to vibrations, play it by ear, there are different solutions to fix the vibes, and they are all pretty easy to do after the lift is installed. so to save money up front, don't sweat it, just get lifted and see if you have vibes first and go from there.

    in the back end, 5100's again with a 3 leaf AAL is my recommendation. the reason I say 3 leaf over a single leaf is because I believe it gives a better ride quality since the impact is distributed through 3 leafs instead of 1. that is my opinion. but like @geekhouse23 said, if you load up the back of your truck with a lot of weight the AAL will be temporary which I am now learning is true hahaha I got a 3 leaf (used) I have loaded my bed up with fire wood a few times to the point I was riding bump stops, and I feel like my arse end sags a bit now. but it is a great way to get lifted for cheap! its not like it will only last a couple months, buddy ran his AAL for a couple years and loaded up his bed with work tools all the time and I have now had it on for about a year. if you want really cheap, get a block but this is where cutting corners sacrifices ride quality.

    @emmett
    To add the springs in the front are what is lifting the truck as well (there are exceptions) springs provide lift/lowering shocks/struts provide the control

    that is perfect! how much would this all run me roughly? also, u think this would look okay if i continued to run my 265/70r/16?

    0569B8B7-AE6C-4340-B7BF-D119E5A6CE45.jpg im afraid theyll be too small. maybe not though?

    That’s about $750 shipped from headstrong. And IMO the tires will look small. A stock height truck with aggressive tires looks better to me than a lifted truck with non aggressive tires.

    Tires will also me more beneficial off road than a lift alone.

    @emmett

    5100 set at 0 - with OME 887
    5100 with 3 Leaf AAL

    Stock Tires SIZE (265/62/17), for reference to see what it looks like
    keep in mind, the suspension had settled down a bit and this was right after finishing up the install.

    They'll look a little small. By the way that cap on the back I would look into possibly a little bit heavier AAL or getting the 4+1 recall springs if you haven't had that recall done yet that'll help a bit.

    That sidewall looks way too aggressive to be stock. What tires?

    id agree with a truck looking better at stock height and aggressive tire vs lifted and not. is there a way to beef up the suspension and not lift it? i dont mind the stock height, but i figured youd have to lift it if you wanted to beef up the springs

    It can be done but it’s tricky. For the front you can do 5100/OME 883 coils and that only lifts you 1”. Barely noticeable.

    For the back end it’s tricker. You need to beef up the leafs without gaining lift. That’s where you get into air bags or aftermarket leaf packs which is $$$

    5100 set at 0 with stock spring, then when you want lift either adjust them or put on OME springs but I have no clue what height the truck would sit at with that combo
