To clarify that is 30% increase in peak output intensity. Note that the Pros put out a larger beam pattern as well so there is more additional light than captured by the peak intensity lux reading.

Question on the Diode Dynamic SS3’s: is it the exact same part and mounting for the Gen 2 and Gen 3’s?

Just got my ditch light brackets and now comes the part to decide what lights to run.

I've got the Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro's in selective yellow for fogs and they have been nothing but stellar.

Having said that I'm contemplating whether or not to go with a pair of SS3's or the new SSC2's. Goal is for clear lens on selective yellow variant for a warmer white.

Also, what pattern would you choose?

If you don't mind the look of the larger form factor on your A-pillar just go SS3! Or if you're dead set on the backlight function then SSC2.

Driving pattern all day on the ditch light

Do you have any ssc2 driving (combo?) pattern on a ditch bracket comparison to a BD S2 wide corner or combo video or photos??

I should have a YT video up in approx 48hrs that answers your question... :spy: However, I can now say that the SSC2 does not show as well on camera due to the color temp, but they're excellent as ditch lights. They will be (are) what I run on my personal truck moving forward.

Does anyone make a ditch light which mounts to the front face of the side mirrors?

EDIT: yes and no. Seems ripe for a bolt on product given how popular ditch lights are.

Thanks brotha! I know I am slow to production, but I'm working diligently on all of it for y'all! Here's a sneak peek... Take into account that this was all filmed immediately after a rainstorm which soaks up a TON of reflected light that you'd normally notice off of the road and gives a bit of extra credit to the longer wavelength of the S2 Pros. The camera doesn't pick up the flood aspect of the SSC2s either (this was a combo pattern), but it was absolutely present in person. Take note of the distance that you are able to observe though for this snapshot.

Here's a sneak peek :D BD's are the "warmer" light (driving/combo on these) in the bottom pic.

The KC G4s blow the Morimotos out of the water, literally better in every measurable trait.

Should have the SSC2s posted to the thread shortly.

I'm gonna need to meet up with you one of these days to figure out a headlight bulb solution (currently running the XenonDepot HID's with Philips XV2 bulbs, forgive me for I have sinned). Drove from Oregon in the dark and boy do I miss the factory HID headlights out of my older cars.

Man this thread has so much information had my head spinning for days. Ended up going with the SS3. After emailing @Diode Dynamics and finding they do plan on making a combo lens available at some point for it. Purchased it from @memario1214 site do to free shipping and no tax win win.

This video was the clincher for me. Great work guys.

Assuming I can get BD squadron sport for roughly the same price as dd ss3 sport, an I still better off with the ss3s? For actual weather reasons and not offroading

Squadron Sports are not an SAE light, they don’t have cut offs meaning they will blind oncoming drivers and should not be run on the street. The lack of cut offs also make them ineffective in fog. The Squadron Sports are effectively an off-road only light, where they excel for that purpose.

Fantastic thread, and Ive seen lots of examples of the Diode Dynamic Sport fogs installed but yet to see a direct comparison between our factory fog lamps that come on the Gen3 TRD 4x4 DBCB Off roads. Looking at what DD says is their YT video is stating Sport fogs yellow: 9,800 candella, 2900k, 78 degrees wide and 8 degrees high vs Toyota factory of 5,850 candella, 3100k, 85 degrees wide and 12 degrees high. The angle of degree is not that much different and even with light output almost double can we really notice a marked difference. I played with LED flashlights for many years, our visual perception of increased brightness is not always easy to see.
Any direct comparison shots, certainly Diode Dynamics should have some.

I still have my stock fog lights with stock bulbs. If you’d like it and Crash has not already done so, I could swap one back in and get a side-by-side comparison photo. My DD sports are yellow though and perhaps you are only or mostly interested in white?

EDIT: you did say yellow, sorry. I can get a photo Monday night if nobody else finds something for you.
