thanks, I also heard that if you lift your taco and go bigger tires, you have to regear. I want to know when we draw the line to regear. Above what size tire you need to regear. thx

Depends on how much you're willing to suffer. It's already geared high(MT is 3.31 and auto is 3.56 or therabouts I think) there's a sticky with a tire size/gear ratio calculator that allows you to input different tires sizes and/or gear ratios. You can get higher final drive ratios but larger wheel/tire combos will be offset by less range so you'll be filling up more frequently. Too high and the pinion gear gets tiny and more prone to failure. Back in a few to post a link to the gear rstio calculator.

thanks for the info. I plan to go 29 or 29.5" to be safe. I daily the truck and drives 70mph on the freeway.
I am debating the fat bob or ready lift, exactly how good is the fat bob shock that comes with the kit? I like the idea of long AAL, but I would prefer the 5100s in the rear rather than the shocks that comes with the fat bob kit. Any thought?

The fat bobs shocks will work but they're not 5100s also don't forget the 4600s in the front

Thanks for the fast reply. yah, i plan to go with Fat bob spacers and long AAL, then 4600s in the front and 5100s in the rear. But if i got that, i will have no use of the shocks that i got from the fat bob kit.

Just thinking about the most cost effective way to lift the taco

That's why many people do the eBay spacer. I did the eBay spacer with a fat bobs long aal and ubolts. Don't use fat bobs ubolts though mine rusted pretty quick and I'm in South Florida.

that's the exact suggestion I need. Thanks a lot for the heads up on the ubolt. Which ebay spacer do you use? any vendor recommend? if you order the fat bobs all, what u bolts did you end up getting? Thanks

    Hey guys!

Im doing a 2.75 spacer in the front with 1.75 aal lift in the rear & new front & rear shocks. Looking to throw on some BFG 265/75/16 with procomp 16” series 252 wheels. They are a 16X8 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern with -6 offset & 4.25 backspacing. Will i need a spacer to clear my brake caliber or should i be fine? Has anyone tried to run the procomps? Thanks

Been doing a lot of reading and there's a lot of good info on this thread. That said, before I hit the buy buttons, I want to clarify everything I need before I start.

2009 5 lug tacoma. The front shocks and coils are brand new so not replacing those. Right now I'm looking at Readylift spacer and AAL. For the rear shocks I'm thinking Bilstein 5100 is what I want.

Is this all I need to lift the truck? Is what I'm looking at a good choice? Should I get anything else?

My brother does suspension so I'll be making the 6 hour drive for his help on installation. Is there anything he or I need to know before doing this?

6 hours is quite a drive for a spacer n aal lift. But hey you get to see your bro

    All,

Looking to price out lifting my rc 5 lug, ebay spacers seem the way to keep cost down in the front if i'm not mistaken. wondering what a good price would look like for aal and bilsteen 4600/5100. seen some wildly different pricing. also why are there like 20 different shocks labeled as 4600's when i look at them online, a smidge confused at that.

Lifited: Fat Bob's rear shocks, Fat Bob's 3" spacer and rear AAL, Nitto Terragrapplers, weldertaco wrap around rear tube bumper, TrailWorx Fab tube front bumper
I'm pretty confident that the 6 lug leafs and the 5 lug leafs are interchangeable.

Yes and no. We have spring under leafs which have a large Arch and 6 lugs use spring over which are more flat. You can fit both but the arch really is the killer.

I was looking for a set of upgraded leaf springs for the 2nd Gen 4 cyl. a couple of months ago, but didn't find anything.

No clue about your generation but have you looked to see if you can just get 6 lug springs on yours? Or tried flipping your springs if they are sagging? IDK
