LoL, that WAS all in! I'd need to pay to have it shipped from CA, plus the auction fees! I've got a guy who wants my cab, but I don't think that there would be enough money to make back from that truck, after I take it's body... It doesn't seem like people will pay that much for engines or transmissions from these things.

 

Well...it is almost 20 years old..haha

pre tacoma guys like to swap them in sometimes or MR2 guys..but thats about it.

and right..that dang shipping..

 

^really... I was figuring $500 for the motor and $200 for the trans...


We'll see, I'm still the highest bidder.

Well... I lost all the auctions last night.

Maybe I'll put this project off until I've got more cash and the weather is warmer.

the double cab is gonna be a hefty investment for sure.

 

I think you're right. My next strategy is to wait for a double cab to come up for auction locally. Then I can take the money I was going to use for transportation and put it into winning the auction. I guess I'll just keep bidding and wait until I actually win one.

In the mean time, I really want to tweak little things here and there on my rig anyway.

 

yea..not a bad game plan. Or just find on that is pretty beat up from a front end collision..and start repairing it haha

Could be cheaper in the long run

Problem there is having space to store it while you fix it and buy parts for it..

 

I've got a couple buddies that have farms or acreage, so I think I could talk them into keeping my rig for a bit while fixing it. BUT, that means I'd have to take the time and effort to actually fix it. All of a sudden, I'm feeling old, LoL.


How long did it take you to find a body?

 

2 weeks..in a state..almost 2..over haha

mine was a 5 lugger parted out farm truck though.

so i got lucky. whole thing for 500 bucks haha

but it had issues.

i guess if you really go one where the cab was mostly okay save for the front..you could just remove the wheel weels/core support from your current rig and slap it on the double cab..

but then you would be left with a partial cab and whole frame/driveline..

Moved my rear spring mounts outward today.

 

Got the rear mounts welded back on.





Next step: bracket the top two leafs so I can force the orbit eyes to move rather than this:
