^I don't know how big your rig is, but I'd bet that 8 or 10 ft would be more than enough. I buy 20ft sticks, but I could just pass the per-the-foot cost to you. I'll let you know when we decide to get started on this.

Its the overcast clouds and how they diffuse the light my cool metallic silver paint looked KILLER on cloudy days.

So here's a question for you RTT guys. What do you all think of the Tepui brand? I see that there's a group buy going on...

 

It looks like a CVT Group buy might be going too?

So, which one do you guys prefer, CVT or Tepui?

 

Both are pretty close to the same..i love my CVT though..and the tepui guys love theirs..haha

Pretty sure there will be a bigger discount with CVT though.

Hey Blackdawg, do you know any rumors on what the new models are? Right now, that Mt. Rainier is looking really tempting. It looks like you could easily fit 3 people in the tent and another 1 or 2 in the annex.

 

My dad has that size. It's massive. 3 people easily. The width is as long as your whole bed of the truck..haha annex will fit 4 for it if it has the extra overhange easy.

If I did a double cab swap, would it be too long for the short bed?

I'd probably have my rack stack on top of my topper... at the height you have yours, so I think I could get it to fit. How does your rig feel with the tent on top on the highway?

 

I would NOT put a tent up there haha not to wheel with. If your gonna be on tame roads..no prob...get even a bit tippy..sucks. Mine is pushing height IMO.

 

with it setup like in the picture. You definitely know its up there, especially with windy conditions. However if you have it on top of the topper, you could make a fairing and it would help out a lot

 

So 130 lbs makes that big of a difference up there? I guess I didn't think much about it because I always see the LC80s with tents up there. How much lower is your setup than the top of your truck?

I might have to make a mass simulator and wheel with it to be sure...

Yeah, I was thinking about incorporating an angled piece on the rack that would direct air over the tent. I just want to make sure everything is nice and stable for wheeling.

 

Mine is about...idk..4" abouve the roof. 14" from the bed rail is the bottom of my bed rack rails.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. So, at 4" with 125 lbs, you'd have an additional moment of 500 in-lbs, or 41 ft-lbs.

The absolute torque would be 187 ft-lbs at a worst case, then right?

At any rate, I can see how that would affect the dynamics of the rig. I should tie a buddy to my roof and wheel just to see what it feels like, LoL!
