^I siped my current set of KM2s, but only the center lugs. I'm wondering if 33x10.5s would do a little better in the slick stuff because of a high lbs per square inch.

So, Blackdawg, why do you hate duratracs? Is it the sidewalls?

Also, I found a couple more pics of your trimming job. Mine actually look pretty similar, I've already trimmed the fender at the very bottom... I just need to grind down what left of my pinch weld to make it flush, right?

    Here's mine:

You can see the body is trimmed straight out laterally from the firewall. You think it's enough?

Here's how far I ground the pinch weld. Do you think it needs more?

Here's the final product, just as an FYI to readers

Haha! Awesome you found em. And actually I end up cut more then just the bottom of the fender. I ended up cutout that whole bolt mount you can see and rolling the fender in on itself.

BUT that is due to my outrageous BS. 2.5". If you got smaller spacers for the front like .75 I'd guess you are pretty close for 12.5s. But probably have to trim up the fender a bit

For 10.5s I'd say you almost done.

Yea I don't like durtracs cause of side walls. Blow way to easy.

^I'm still looking for a good all around tire... I have the BFG ATs and actually liked them a lot. But they weren't the best in deep snow (which I see a lot). Any suggestions on something that is similar MT peformance offroad but is decent in packed snow and Ice?

Honestly if you see a ton of a ow I can see the justification for durtracs. They are supposed to be awesome in the snow.

That being said I think the MTRs are too. Which I'd take over the durtracs if I had to pick a Goodyear.

I'm looking at getting the hankook mt next. Looks great and is supposed to last really long. Not sure how it does in snow tho personally..

^Keep me updated if you get the Hankooks, I'd be interested to see how they perform. I wish that the Truxus MTs had better over the road manners. I hear the rock snow, mud, rocks, everything.

Hey Blackdawg, one more quick question... Are you familiar with TJM roof top tents? Seems like they are really reasonably priced...

i am not..but there are close to the same if not the same china tent as CVT and Teupi or whatever.

I went with CVT cause Bobby is the MAN. Seriously..can not speak better about a guy running a company.

lets see..last years group buy a bunch of people's tents got damaged from UPS..so he just sent the all new ones! some got 3 tents!

then he replaced anyone's ladder that wanted it with a different one..for free!

this year the GB just got sprung on him and he still did it. AND is driving all the way to Moab to deliver 5 tents to make sure people get them for Moab cause the tents showed up late.

    and more..

    AWESOME company.

its on sale  why it looks so good right now..and it is a good price. But i wouldn't count on it being that cheap..

you can get that same tent WITH the annex for free from CVT at the 1250 price..which im sure it'll go to eventually.

looks identical basically to mine tho.

    and i have a wish/to do list :p haha

Ok, I'd better get my To-Do/Wish list started...

    1. Upgraded rear springs with Orbit Eye bushings
    2. Fabricate Rear Bumper with Tire/Hi-Lift/Fuel Can Carrier
    3. Redo belly skids/T-case mount for flat belly
    4. Rooftop Tent

Ok, to anyone still reading this thread, feel free to throw out other ideas for the list!

    What's a UHMW belly skid!?

For the RTT, I was thinking of making a removable bed rack that would go on the outside of my soft topper. I was picturing a couple pieces of angle iron that go under the softtopper rails as a base. Then I'd have two hoops of tube that go over the top that are removable and pinned, like my winch plate. All that being said, I haven't really thought about it and am totally open to suggestions!:poking:

That's how stfus rig is setup. He is getting a RTT soon.

UHMW is plastic sorta. It's super slick tho. They use it on the edges of like snow plow blades as its self lubricating. It's getting more and more popular for skids. I'm planning on making my belly skid out of it. Probably 3/4 or 1" thick.

OH.. ok I have heard of that stuff. That's a great idea, actually.

Hey, do you know anyone that's run Cooper STT tires? I've read reviews that they do really well in snow... maybe 33x12.5 Cooper are next?

Ha actually my dad has them on his 08. The grip compared to my km2 is awesome on the snow.
