I would like to start this build by thanking @DukesTaco for making the purchase of this Land Cruiser possible... doing pretty much everything really... inspecting it, transporting it, storing it, violating it regularly...

    I purchased (and Duke picked up) a 94 FZJ80 early January 2018.

    The introduction:
    "Rojo" (pronounced ro-joe)
    00s0s_2pdHRuW6AOd_1200x900.jpg

    Rojo as of 13May2018
    20180513_144801.jpg

And Duke taking Rojo to his place for storage.

damn, sucks you are deployed and can't play with your 'new' FZJ. Hopefully you will get back soon and have a pile of parts waiting for you to add on! Good luck, and as someone who spent a lot of time playing in the sandbox, keep your head down. If they could aim, they'd be dangerous. Otherwise they are just lucky.

Thanks! Luckily, I avoided the sandbox this time. I'm in Bogotá right now. It looks like I'm getting extended by 2 months... per diem is good... more mods. I've done a total of 18 months at the Deid. Not really dangerous, just hot and sandy. I forgot the " " around deployed.

I'd give the new "slinky" springs by autocraft a look. I just put a set on an hdj80 that I'm building for a guy with slee shocks running 315s. Perfect height and no spring spacers...

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at these. The benefit to the OME suspension is that I get wholesale pricing.

I'm back in the FZJ family... I had one a few years back and sold it... with only 82k miles.

You won't need a seatbelt to drive it . For what it's worth neither will any of your passengers .

Can't beat that. The new vendors dropping their products are all about the "progressive" coils, keeps them from unseating while flexing (as much as an 80 can flex lol) and a smoother ride on washboard stuff. That being said, you can't go wrong with OME... What rear bumper are you going with?
I'm a big fan of the 4x4Labs rear, top notch quality and Luke is a super cool dude.

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced rear bumper with a spare tire swingout option... but I'm not sure if they exist.

Not unless you go DIY sadly.. SLEE and 4x4labs have the market cornered and both are above 2k built. You can get the diy 4x4labs for around $1700 if you feel like burning metal

I would just get the single swingout, so it's only $1400 from 4x4Labs built and powdercoated... but that's still a lot.

Absolutely, my mom bought her 96 LX450 in 2002 with 30k miles... still drives it every day with almost 300k.
