If you’re going 81 mph, and the temperature is 81 degrees, and the wind is blowing out of the southeast at 7.5 mph, a black hole will open and swallow you.

I feel like I'm making a UFO report, but I tried this yesterday, and my Taco won't show 81mph either! On a level stretch, I eased the speed up -- 79, 80, 82, 83. Then I eased it down -- 83, 82, 80, 79. Tried setting the cruise control at 80, then bumping it up with the control lever. 82. Bumped it back down. 80. Set it at 82, and bumped it down once. 80. Set it at 83, bumped it down twice. 80. Set it at 79, bumped it up twice. 82.

I know back in the early days of digital calculators, there were some algorithms in the math packages that were subject to errors. For example, if you divided 1 by 9, then multiplied the result by 9, you got 0.99999987. It even happened on some early (1980s) home computers in their BASIC language math routines. But I haven't seen that kind of analog-digital error in over 30 years!

The flux capacitor actually turns on at 88 because that's when it starts glowing.

81 is the speed you go in reverse when you're "drag racing" Needles and dont want to hit a Rolls Royce.
