As a Buckeye fan , I get to start a new thread dedicated to college football and the National Championship team , The Ohio State Buckeyes . On Jan 20th the Buckeyes defeated a pretty good ND squad , it was a good game , got kind of interesting but the best team prevailed . Here are some of the many highlights from the game , all showing the Bucks in a favorable light , of course .

I hear ya . OSU was playing lights out in the playoffs , I was suprised actually that they didnt have any trouble at all . I think the Michigan loss lit a fire under their butts . The UM loss , imo , was all on the coaches . OSU will be ranked #1 going into next season but I just dont see it , they are losing a bunch . They should make the playoffs but I dont see a repeat of this year .

As much as I hate Ohio State, they did earn this national title and respect is due for that. Congratulations to the buckeye nation.
And good job on the opening post @OSUTacoma

Lol but in all seriousness, congratulations and thanks for keeping it in the B1G. I said it many times this season, if OSU didn't win the National Championship this year then I'm not even sure what they were doing this past off-season.

And for anyone who thinks the meaning of The Game has diminished: The Game is the exact reason Ohio State assembled this roster and coaching staff. Each school pushes the other.

They sure do. I dont think other schools fans realize it .

Do you think anything will come from the NCAA investigation going on with UM ?

That loss this season is a head scratcher for sure , I think it was Day being stubborn about wanting to establish the run , like he said. With OSUs WRs , who cares about the run ?

They'll get something I'm sure. But I believe it'll be more in the realm of sanctions like a few fines and/or scholarships being limited, etc. I certainly don't see any wins being vacated (let alone the championship) and I don't see "the hammer" opposing fans keep touting about coming down. I could go on and on about why I think that but I don't think you feel like reading a novel lol.

Yeah I certainly think that stubbornness was part of it for Ryan Day. He was tired of hearing about OSU being a "finesse" team and wanted to prove they were a tough team so he tried to get the run game going. However the defensive line was the one clear advantage Michigan had in all of the matchups. Although I don't think enough credit was given to that defensive effort. A good D-line can make any secondary much better. The defense wasn't stellar most of the season, particularly on 3rd down. But once Wink Martindale learned how to adjust to the college game, the Michigan defense really improved.

Michigan's main issue this year was a small regression in offensive line and major regression in QB play. Michigan should have beaten Illinois and Indiana this year too but the offense was terrible and so was the QB play. I don't care how good your defense is you won't win championships by hoping your defense can consistently bail out your terrible offense. Next season should be a massive step forward again though. Natty bound? Not so sure about that. But I can see maybe 1 or 2 losses as opposed to 5 this season.

National championship game viewership down 12.6% from last season. 3rd lowest rating for a championship game since the CFP started

Because the rest of the US hates OSU and ND.

@dwalden2 this is referring to your reply post from last year’s thread. Yes, I agree that the overall traffic and interaction on the thread was down from previous years. I don’t know why? Football wise this season was interesting with week to week upsets. Maybe this coming season will bring more chatter.
Hopefully our Dawgs will get their act together for 2025.
