I'm not saying it can't be done. I just figured the smarter vs harder approach has it's benefits.

x2. Cardio for me is for days I know I'm going to consume mass quantities of alcohol...I'll be doing cardio Friday and Saturday morning haha :oldglory:

I still do tabata 2-3 times a week though. LISS is just so fucking boring

One of my all-time favorites. That's why it's on my bulking meal plan. I can literally eat it every day and not get tired of it.

    Chest today:

    Single-arm cable flys: 1 set of 30 (ascending reps) @ 70 lbs
Decline barbell bench: 10 sets of 3 @ 225 (no spotter today, so I had to be tame)
Dumbbell bench press: 6 sets of 5 w/ 65 lb dumbbells on 3 sets and 60 lb dumbbells on 3 sets
Leverage cheset press: 5 sets of 6 @ 130 lbs
    Machine flys: 3 sets of 10 @ 145
Svend press: 2 sets of 15 w/ 20 lbs on 1 set and 15 lbs on 1 set

I had a whole post typed out but I dont know where it went...haha

    Kase,
I started out at 143 and am now at 163 (November 2013 to now. been at 160 for a month or so) and still lean. When I first started lifting and working out I was also eating "clean". I was confused as to why I wasnt gaining weight. I was getting full at each meal but I wasnt getting enough calories. I was eating chicken breast, talapia, brown rice, brocoli....

I did a lot of research and found out that Ecto's need more carbs to really gain weight. I also found what foods had higher calories but werent as filling (eat a crusant roll instead of a baked potato). Once I started eating pancakes, donuts, french toast, bagels dipped in eggs then cooked like french toast...haha I started to finally make gains. lots of burgers, LOTS of bacon. Pasta is a great way to gain, mix in olive oil AND sauce. The olive oil wont make you any fuller but it will add in fat and at this point that will not hurt you.

I have a desk job but outside of work I am very active, I love to run, lift, and cylce. To make gains while still doing all this I have been eating 3000-4000 cals a day. Its not easy at first but it will become routine.

This site helped me out a lot. I didnt pay for their plan though. they have lots of info on their site.

I have found that im kinda stuck on my lean... ill just cut the cardio down to a couple days a week now and keep the same diet to hopefully maintain. I need to be bigger before I get leaner. Strength didn't go down a ton, but my arms have shrunk a full inch and my shirts are definitely looser lol.

I was lazy in the gym when it came to cardio. You can't flex cardio! But this week I started the stairclimber at low settings so I can burn calories without burning too much muscle mass. I try to get in 10-15 minutes on it after my workout.

No brainer that if you work out 4+ hours a day that you'll be pretty lean. Most people don't have the luxury or care to do that though. There are a million things I'd rather do then stand around in a building with a bunch of others dudes trying to show off to each other. So, if one is able to work out substantially less and still achieve the same results just by dialing in their nutrition (diet), then sounds like they're making the smarter move.

Some people live to work out, others work out to live. If the gym is all you have, maybe it's time to rethink why you work out.

x2. There's a group of 3 dudes at my gym that seriously work out 3-4 hours at a time and I'm just like, "niqqa, go to the bar and meet some girls or something, damn!" On my off days, I'm in the gym 1 hour, max. I just can't see the joy in wanting to lift for 3 hours a day. I wish I could be like Kevin and just eat whatever the fuck I want and run it off, but I'm scared I'd lose all my gains running lol. I'd much rather count calories. One doesn't have to eat clean to have a 6-pack.

On another note, I don't know exactly what I did differently on leg day last Friday, but I'm still sore! Today, it's very minimal, but there is still some DOMS. I've never been sore this long. Definitely gonna do that workout again!

Not saying to work out that long. Just to pick up the effort. I only goto the gym for 30-45 minutes a day. I take the dogs for a walk every other day as well. I see guys in the gym twice as long as I am but they sit on their phones between sets to fully catch their breath. Most don't even break a sweat.
