I guess it also explains why sometimes post cardio my quad area would literally lock up and I had to just stand there and wait due to the amount of pain

This is the IT band, which is connective tissue that runs on the outside of the legs between the hip and knee

If it's too tight, it pulls the knee cap out, so it can't track straight up and down in its correct groove like it's supposed to. Then it starts to hurt like a bitch underneath the knee cap because it's rubbing directly on the end of the femur (thigh bone) where it's not supposed to.

The foam roller works good to knead the IT band like using a rolling pin to stretch out pizza dough. You just use your body weight and roll from hip to knee and back again

Personally I wanted to stretch them after they're good and warmed up (after cardio at the gym), so I didn't want to lug around a foam roller. I tried a few stretches, including this one

but found this one ^^ to work the best for me. really felt them loosen up and the knee pain disappeared after 2 weeks doing this stretch for 2 min post cardio a few times a week

    Shit.

    Hurt my foot bad.

Was loading up my deadlift bar, and had a 45 lb plate in each hand. One slipped and I didn't move my foot in time. I was wearing my five-fingers. It's swoll up good now (3AM) and can barely put weight on it. I'll be off to get x-rays in a few hours.

Just got home. Doc says they won't be able to tell where the break is until the swelling subsides in a few days. They made me a removable cast that I can take off for showering, otherwise it's on 24/7. Doc said if I want it to heal up properly and be able to push off that foot in the future, there can't be any weight bearing on it till I see them next.

    This sucks!!

Going back on friday for repeat x-rays

Haven't had a day like this in a long time... chillin' on the couch, watching UFC.

Cooked up a fierce lunch on my crutches: brown rice mixed with chopped cranberries and pecans topped with seared albacore tuna steak with a cajun crust.

    Now it's time for a nap... :)
