Yea, you have me read like a book.

It's funny that the CF guys get so offended when you mention steroids. Yet look at the games and games competitors from the first couple, and compare to the people this year. Including the workouts. Almost like looking at body building when it first started and now. Wonder why...

I heard a podcast with Rich froning in it, and the dude claimed to of worked out three times already that day, and it was only noon!
These guys go balls out all the time. Their achievements are not short of extreme hard work. BUT, you can't tell me that the front runners just happen to be the only people in the world who can consistently breakdown their body at the magnitude they do, yet need no help for recovery.

Tested by who?? Crossfit HQ? The same people paying them to workout 24/7. The same people who make tons of money off them being their poster childs.
NFL players get tested too just so you know.

I did CF from about 2005-2012. It was big in some military communities. So I've been around it for awhile. I know there are some genetic freaks out there. But even those guys couldn't put in the work required of the poster childs without either breaking or seeking some help.

I agree with speedo, a paleo diet combined with typical supps and water can't support the muscle break down. Our bodies aren't meant for that.

What about an Olympic swimmer that trains for hours and hours a day. Full body workout probably burning 15,000 calories. They recover. Now reduce the duration and increase the load...
There is no doubt not everyone can go out and look like Khalipa but I believe it's possible on a strict diet and legal supps

Burning the 15,000 cal swimming is slightly different than burning 15,000 pushing weights around ya?

An Olympic swimmer needs endurance and speed, not as much mass. Therefore they are not doing muscle building exercises (breaking down muscle fibers) as much as an Olympic weight lifter.

Unless I don't know jack fuck about swimming.

    We split our legs......quads/calves, chest/triceps, hamstrings/glutes, back/bicep, quads/calves, delts/abs, hamstrings/glutes.............as an example of a typical leg gains period.

    The better coast
    Totally different muscle contractions.

Which is why pro swimmers can pull intense 8hr days in the water day after day after day w/o missing a beat and lifters need to set up their workouts to accommodate recovery.

You also don't see swimmers with 18" arms. They burn so much, they'd have to eat 10,000 calories to put on any muscle, but that's not their goal.

Also, I go by the, "if you've got to ask, they probably are" method in regards to wondering if someone is juicing. Personally, I'm all for it and would do it in a heartbeat, if it were legal. It gets a bad rep because people abuse it, don't come off or PCT correctly and end up screwing their hormones up and having fits of rage, heart attacks, etc. The problem is when someone is using it as an advantage when others cannot. In bodybuilding, EVERYONE does it, so there's a level playing field. But when you get someone like Barry Bonds, it fucks it up for everyone else b/c he's got an edge over them. If everyone in the sport could do it, it wouldn't be cheating. Juice is useless without a proper diet and gym routine. Hard work still has to be put in....you just yield faster results. Moral of the story: if you gotta ask, they're probably on it.

very true. I still do as little cardio as possible, but do consider heart health extremely important, which is why I do a little tabata every now and then...I might start doing some LISS every now and then, too

I've been doing upper/lower for about the past month and love it. Upper body twice a week, lower body twice a week

That's why I said change the duration and load. Your muscles are still getting torn up.
Yes they don't want huge mass and are on a different diet. It was a bad example but I'm saying that they recover from crazy workouts as well.

For what its worth, I swam from age 7-21, was a sprinter in college and qualified for nationals. Swimmers never really recover. You're literally tired all the time, but 3-4 weeks out from a championship meet swimmers do a "taper" where they basically reduce training volume by 75% and focus on intensity. They also stop lifting weights about 3 weeks out. While it may seem counter-intuitive at first, its been scientifically proven that muscle mass and cardiovascular ability can be retained for at least 4 weeks and cardiovascular ability is enhanced when rested. This is why guys like Phelps have relatively slow times until the Olympic trials or other championship meet.

I don't know enough about crossfit to say, but the pro CFs might feel similar in that regard. Do CFs do any kind of deloading before the championships?

I'm not sure but I feel that's true for any sport. So I'll assume that they do.

This thread has been boring the past day or so. Can we get back to babes and delicious food? I skipped my workout today for a breakfast burrito.
