If I haven't lifted in a while then I'm sore for about4-5 days after leg day. After that though, my quads are sore the next day and every so often the 2nd day.

Hit the century club tonight..benched 100 pounds. Only 10 reps, but I figured I'd top out at 5 so I'll take it.

I went the other way. Never cared about this stuff till I turned 40 last year. Since I was a teenager I always drank Mountain Dew by the 2 liter..for a long time I've been doing 2 of those a day plus eating crap.

Hell when I was 25 I could eat a bar pizza, an app, and drink 20 beers for dinner. I never got about 200 pounds because I had 2 jobs that kept me on my feet, when I got my desk job I got up to almost 300.

I've got you beat and I still get sore ;)

Is this your perception of 40 year olds?

ABA180 I hear ya! I worked construction through high school and college and ate pounds of food at each sitting. Never gained a pound haha
Now sitting in a car all day I've had to "adjust" my diet for sure!

kiss those big ass quads goodbye

The key to growing muscle is to aim for hypertrophy, which (debatably) happens in the 8-15 rep range and by going heavy as you can in that amount of reps. EX. Don't do 3 sets of 10 @ 135 on flat bench if you could do 3 sets of 10 @ 225 on flat bench. You want your last 2 or 3 reps to feel like you're about to die. That's what I do, anyway. Give this workout a try. It was my first ever and I base almost all of my current workouts off of it now. Which brings me to my next point: you need to change up your routine every 8-12 weeks because your muscles get used to the same motions over and over, so you've got to change it up every now and then

So, what you're saying is, shrugs are useless unless you want big traps? :not sure:

Yes. I stretch for about 3-4 mins before every workout day. Before any upper body exercise, I do 3-4 shoulder stretches, a few back stretches, and that's about it. Before leg day, I do 7-8 stretches for about 3-4 mins to get my hams/quads/calves/hips loose.

    Seriously, check this workout out.

Absolutely. I did legs Wednesday and they're still a little sore today.

I'm 25 and I had a footlong Subway and about a 5th of Evan Williams for dinner last night!
