Aloha hombres! I just found this thread and went through a few pages. It seems like a good place to bounce off training ideas and ask for advice.

I am a Texan living back in Maui for a second time so my meatheadness has taken a bit of a backseat to surfing and all the other activities I enjoy here. I am down about 20 lbs from 205 since I moved back about 8 months ago.

I am really getting into body movements and focusing on being agile and strong in all ranges of motion. It is all pretty new to me and having a hard time mentally not being in the gym all the time. Definitely stuff I thought I would never do (yoga, gymnastics, etc. ). I still lift 2-3 times a week powerlifting style and I doubt I ever give that portion up completely.

I will contribute where I can.

    Mahalo,

    Taylor

Haha. My buddy actually owns one of the few ones over here. I did partake in it for a few months about 5 years ago when he first opened it up. I see its purpose for a select group of athletes. You cant argue the fact that it has brought the common man into the fitness world.....and I am all for people being healthier. (got to watch the form they are teaching though)

We will leave it at that.

Went in for 'lower a' today. I rode by the gym yesterday afternoon and it was packed, so I didn't go b/c I knew it was full of chest brahs. There were about 10 people there today. I love not working there anymore because I can put my headphones in and tune everyone out...and I can wear my cut up shirts to show off my arms and beer gut. I've really become a fan of front squats the past few weeks because I had DOMS for like 3 days in my quads last week. My pre-workout still had me going after doing legs, so I killed some calves and abs afterwards, too. I usually do calves and abs after legs anyway, but I was still geeked up, so I did a little circuit for about 15 mins until I was tired.

Been cutting for about 3 weeks now and I'm right on track: down to 202 from 205 (losing 1 lb per week at a 450 calorie deficit). This job at the Capitol is really testing me though. Lobbyists cater breakfast, lunch, and dinner EVERY FUCKING DAY to butter up to the Senators, so I'm surrounded by temptation all day...I usually only fall off the wagon once a week, which isn't too bad. Of the three lbs I've lost, I can't really tell anywhere but my arms. I can start seeing the bicep veins under my skin that usually don't start popping out until around 10%, so I'd guess I'm still around 13-14%. I'm really ready to get rid of my beer/bulking gut and get back into my size 32's (I'm in 34's now :anonymous: )

Derick, don't say shit about my clean-shaven bitch-ass baby face...part of the job lol

haha just messing with you. You and my friend Dick (giggidy) are literally the only two crossfitters I respect lol

My friend Dick used to be an avid powerlifter, so he had a really good foundation before starting Crossfit, but he's been doing it for a year now and is still jacked (granted, he still powerlifts):

thats my problem my background was in endurance not strength. i always tell myself I'm gona take some time off and just do a pure strength/body building program so i can put some size on, I'm super strong for my size but i feel I'm too small every time i compete against all these huge fuckers even though i usual beat em  lol but every time i try and start a BB program i spend 2 weeks writing it then do it for a week and resort back to crossfit workouts lol taking this week off maybe ill try next week haha goal is to look like steve cook ha

I will see if I can find a picture of me in a "Lahaina Crossfit" shirt. I tried to get rid of all the evidence hahaha. Truth be told, I got crazy cut up but then moved back to Texas where that doesnt mean shit.
