The sport aspect of it. I would imagine a lot of powerlifters found a transition into it from something like football or wrestling. They have a need or a drive to compete. A lot of guys I wrestled with jumped into crossfit once they got out of highschool. I did the same.

Sometimes it benefits someones life style. I worked out when I was in the Army because I wanted to perform better at my job. Once I deployed I focused my workouts around what I did. Climb mountains with 90# of gear. I am sure the cops on here have a similar reason to workout. Probably not to the extent of a deployed soldier but their job does require some form of fitness every now and then.

Now days I do it to benefit my hobbies. Mainly backpacking but I put in for elk and deer this year so now my workout will be geared towards backcountry hunting over the next few months in preparation for that.

Basically, everything I do has a reason outside of "get big". I'll joke around about not being big enough, or my arms are looking small etc. Some people literally workout just to look good. They put aside health risks for the purpose of "looking" big. That's my problem with body building in general.

The "I am going to bulk in the winter, then cut in the summer". Zach does it once a month . Why not just enjoy a healthy body weight year round? Why care if someone at the beach with sub 10% BF thinks your 12- 13% is fat? I guess the question to ask is why do men and women feel like they need to be at 10% and below? It couldn't be due to how fitness models of both sexes are portrayed in body building culture...could it?

Nothing is perfect. There are things in powerlifting I don't like as well. Bodybuilding is just something I like to argue about haha. Sometimes I make my point and sometimes I don't.

I'm nowhere near big. Or even built. But I've had 2 people that I hadn't seen since high school ask me personally, and another guy I hadn't seen in like 4 years asked one of our mutual friends if I had any help. I just take it as a compliment and move on.

I do workout to look good, but it benefiting my health is just a plus. I wouldn't do anything to compromise my health...outside of drinking and all my cheat meals haha

I still do my bulking and cutting, but I'm more strict with it. I've been cutting since Jan and haven't given up yet. I like the idea of cutting and bulking because it gives me the opportunity to pack on mass in the colder months and to get leaned up in the hotter months so I don't look like a fatass...I know it sounds vein, but oh well. I want to be below 10% because it looks good. It has nothing to do with fitness models or anything like that, but I just think low bodyfat looks good, as do most people. The look of "being ripped" has been popular for a while:

The fact that people want to looked ripped isn't a bad thing, as long as they're doing it healthily.

I do agree that there are a lot of people out there that make the sport look bad, but I try not to be one of them. I do what I do for me.

Brah, Zyzz wants to know, wut do u even lift for?

Not to the extend of a deployed soldier huh...

Cops had best work out hard every damn day because there are thousands of people who want nothing more than to attack cops, these people work out harder faster and more than we every day.

Some form of fitness every now and then? Each contact could be a fight for your life...I train for stress management, health and to be better and stronger mentally and physically than every criminal fuck I encounter.

Not to mention lower body fat is healthier and makes me lighter and faster and more agile, with more of a fighters body type. I don't need to be 12-15% body fat and having to wear 30+ pounds of gear for 10-12 hours, not knowing when I have to run after a guy, drag a person from a car, or god forbid carry my buddy to safety.

Let's just stop this bullshit about who's program is better or worse or worthless now....

    Grumpy cat is not impressed.

You a cop? How bout you cop a feel of deez nuts!

JK, I respect the shit out of what you fellas do. I also respect and am jealous of your low-ass bodyfat while still being able to eat oreos and shit...fucker.

I just don't understand who wouldn't want to have low bodyfat. I've never heard anyone say, "oh man, my fucking 6 pack looks like shit...I need to go eat some mayonaise to put on some fat and cover that nasty shit up.

I'm willing to bet if they invented a magic pill that could instantly shred you to 8% bodyfat, everybody in this thread would have a pantry full of them

Anyway, that's the last I'll say about all of this bickering. Different strokes for different folks

At this point I'm not sure where my pct is..it's hella better than it was. Could I drop more in theory sure, can I realistically I'm not sure. For the moment I'm happy to have significant progress in my short and long term betterment.

Not sure on the pills honestly..haha, I hate taking meds of any kind really.

Yes, not as much. Considering my days off consisted of digging, filling sand bags, restocking 80/120 mortar rounds and building a new mortar pit. My days on mission consisted of taking 90 lbs of gear on my back through this shit (and yes that's a picture of cop wild where I was at). I had it easy compared to the platoons. I got to switch out of missions with other mortars. So when I would go on one or two missions a week, they would be running them every day. They only had to carry about 45lbs though.

So do I think a cop needs to train as hard as I did? No. Do I doubt that some do train as hard? No. Are there situations where a cop might need to be in better shape? Yes. Do I think you will have to physically beat the piss out of your body on a daily basis? Maybe, but I highly doubt it and not for extended periods of time.

Don't read to much into what I say. I am not here to offend people. This wasn't meant to be derailed to cops. Depending on the job and location a soldier wouldn't need to do anything. I am sure different positions determines what you see and need to do in law enforcement as well. I have a friend that is now a cop. He was on that deployment and says its a cake walk now but a bit boring (I told him it wouldn't be the same ). He still gets out and runs 1/2 marathons for fun and lifts. Just who he is and is most likely to be back in the army before long.

There is no reason to get upset about what I say. Zach didn't, he just explained his own views. It wasn't an argument or a debate. Just two people talking about lifting. I have these kinds of conversations with everyone. Bringing up controversial topics allows for solid discussion that helps me understand the extremes of each side and the middle ground (where I would like to be).

I don't know why this forum is anti any kind of discussion but whatever. Go back to bashing on crossfit and talking about cake . I am going to go for a run and them make some burgers.
