We have areas like that very close to many towns but most of the state is wide open and riddled with sage brush. Beautiful in it's own way.

That looks like an amazing spot. It actually reminds me of the last backpacking trip I took with my lady(I posted a photo in the Backpacking Thread). Only the spot we went had less trees. Going for a dip in water like that will certainly wake you up in the morning!

I must be the oddball. I was an army brat so I have been around. Grew up mostly in Colorado, Germany, and Wyoming. It took one year in California to know that beaches weren't my thing. I'll be at the coast soon enough for work but it better be the northern west coast...preferably Alaska

I can't wait for the cold weather to arrive. It's actually started feeling almost Fall-like here in the evenings, with temps in the low 70s. Much better than expected for August in Georgia.
It took 1 trip to the beach to realize it wasn't my thing. I HATE hot weather, I hate sand, I hate people, especially in crowds, and I just feel nasty when I get out of the ocean. Give me mountains, cold weather, snow, and a trout river.

Damn! See, it's always so hot in GA that I welcome cold weather...how long I'd last in cold weather is a different story lol. We usually have 1-2 snow days a year, but it always gets below freezing for a few months out of the year. GA (and the rest of the southeast like AL, MS, FL, etc.) has a different kind of hot than most places because we have so much humidity, which makes it feel 10 degrees hotter. So, not only is is 100 degrees for 3 months, it's 100 degrees and you're in a fucking swamp lol. I hate it. I'll never leave the South, but I do wish it was 50-60 degrees year-round lol

Sunshine, fernie, lake lious and banff are all amazing places. Can get a little cold but due to the geographic location and winds you can have one day at -35c and the next -5c

I did them all in one go...I don't mind the -40 (C/F same thing) when you're out snowboarding you don't feel it that much when you move...open chair lifts suck those days though

I wanted the Surge just because i usually wear big face watches and the thin fit bit is going to take some getting used to. Couldn't justify the $100 difference though.
