So this past week or so I've been off pre-workout and I've been getting 5-6 hrs of sleep at night. I hit a pr last night.

pre-workout gets me too amped up for pr lifts now. I need to been calm and focus on technique instead of just grip and rip.

anyone hAve any open opinions (don't turn into a bitch about it) on golds gym. I know their price is up there but the gym I go to has been so crowded as of lately and the only other options are national, snap, or planet fitness. I like the hometown feel of my gym but being asshole to elbow while trying to do skull crushers or even preacher curls

damn. If I don't get my 7-8 hrs, I'm useless. I don't notice a difference in sleep when on or off of a pre. I do hate to workout without a pre though. After I finish my tub of Assault, I'm gonna take about a month off...not looking forward to it.

I don't like big commercial gyms, but if I had to go to one, it'd be Golds just because that's like the mecca for bodybuilders. It's always been looked at as: YMCA is for old people, Planet Fitness is for pussies, Anytime is for soccer moms and dad bods, and Golds is for bodybuilders. The downside to Golds is that's usually the place where you find the mega gym douches...the dudes who workout in spandex pants and stringer tank tops, take selfies, flex in the mirrors, and think they're the next Zyzz (google him...he's the gym douche's hero). The upside to Golds is you'll probably meet some serious lifters who know their shit and you're gonna get top notch equipment.

But I like local gyms b/c you don't have to deal with all the commercial & corporate bullshit. My gym has the same 50-100 people through it each day. It does get packed when I'm there after work, but it's not unbearable b/c not a lot of people hang out in the free weight section anyway. The equipment isn't as nice, but it's not necessary either.

I got to workout anytime now and when I joined it was the same people in and out daily. Then the new year hit and you had what I was told were called "resolutioners" things slowed back down but now there are people that just literally come to hang out and talk. I get it you, meet all walks of life at the gym. But I'm there to work and get things done. I don't mind talking a little In between sets but sometimes it's like damn.

How do you all calculate your pr? By one rep or by set ? Or by adding a rep?

I do it by reps and obviously my 1 rep max. My previous 1 rep max on incline was 225. Last night I got it for 3 so I consider that a pr.
How is my form? When I was doing it, it seemed like he didn't touch the bar on that last rep but by watching the video it looks like he did :(

I knew I had it though. The bar was going up easy and it didn't even stop. He didn't have to do anything.

Looked perfect to me. It looked like he put his fingers under the bar at the last second, but not enough to help you. I hate when people do that. I tell them not to touch the bar unless I start going back down or if I shit my pants or pop a blood vessel in my eye or something.

I don't mind it when I'm trying to do high reps and a spotter helps me bust out a couple more after failure. It gives me good pumps and it probably breaks down more muscle tissues. But when I'm trying to get a pr, I definitely don't want anyone near it.

First day back since the flu and if I ever get the flu again I'll go fucking nuts. I could squat 215 for my last set of 5 easily, and today I struggled to get 200 twice on my last set. But there's no telling how much weight I lost, so there's that.

Increase complex carbs for a few days. Your body is still trying to recover. This is way more important than trying to get back in the gym

That's what I've done the last few days, I've been fine since Saturday.
