I look at it like this: from an athletic standpoint, my strength & conditioning should be focused on utilizing maximum effort to ensure maximum return. So if I'm shorting my glycolytic system of just that much fuel on a strength-oriented outing by 'wasting' it on conditioning that ultimately won't increase my cardiovascular or respiratory capabilities, I'm short-changing myself.

I can attain a lower heart rate, higher VO2 max, et. al. by doing conditioning work post-lift when the aerobic and anaerobic systems are depleted. But I can't trash myself with conditioning and then hit PRs in the weight room.

Did legs more brutal than I think I ever have on Tuesday. Went for a 27 mile ride on Wednesday at this point I don't care if I walk again. I haven't been this sore since I started lifting. I didn't even do heavy weight. I think about 300 max on leg press, 100 max on extensions and I think 300 on calf raises seated and standing and some smith squats. I did high volume but damn.

Also I think I said it before but cotton candy Hyde tastes like absolute shit. Smells good but that's about it.

How old are you and how long have you been working out, if you don't mind? Are you doing bodybuilding or powerlifting? Guess it all depends what your goals are. I think the cross fit craze is comical but trying different exercises never hurts especially with 20+ yrs under your belt...

Started lifting with a purpose at 20; 26 now.

I agree that trying new things is a positive. Just not a fan of doing it when it's counter-productive to my goals.

Skipped the gym last night. I was so damn tired, I just went home and laid in bed and played GTA V all afternoon. Gonna either hit back or chestnbis tonight. My legs are STILLLL sore from Monday!

I forgot how much I enjoy doing back as its own single workout. Back and legs are my most intense workouts and the day after back day, I'm drained. I think it'll help a lot giving it its own day.

That's why I preach against Crossfit (besides the HUGE likelihood of injury)...For MY goals, which are to obtain as much muscle as possible, Crossfit is counterproductive. Anything you do before your weightlifting is going to deplete glycogen stores and waste energy. I want all my energy to be saved for lifting weight.

Another thing is the wasted energy from the exercises: If I want to focus on my back, I'm going to isolate my back, not do flippy-flaily-stroke pull-ups. Sure, your back may get a workout with those kipping things, but you're wasting so much energy on useless movements that it takes away from the efficacy of the intended goal: to workout your back!

What a lot of Corssfitters don't understand is that what they are doing is nowhere near the most efficient way to build muscle. I'm all about getting from point A to point B as easily and most efficiently as possible and, if your goal is to build muscle, Crossfit is like rollerskating down a dirtroad.

Now, before @JordanSmith127's head explodes...he and I have had our debates for years on here and I understand why he does Crossfit: he's not trying to look like Arnold, so Crossfit is great for him. Also, he isn't a complete fucking retard like most of the Crossfit "trainers" I know, so people probably don't get hurt under his watch because he stresses form over time...not to mention, he's literally the only Crossfitter I know with gains, so he's doing something right.

Great lol. I take my pre-workout like a shot of tequila, so hopefully I won't even taste it.

Nice! Lift or just new tires?

The thing I enjoyed most about this video (obviously) is the amount of clips in which the girls were wearing chucks, because I wear chucks when I lift as well...

There is a girl that goes to my gym that does all kinds of crazy workouts such as those that were being shown. I would clown on her for all that fuckery, but damn if the results don't speak for themselves.
