    To do squats. I like to get deep on my squats and get the glutes involved. Most peeps use them for bench/incline or shoulder press, but dumbbells can do that.

    This? I see a ton of chicks doing it. Usually they lay on a mat on the floor and do it. Engages your legs differently since you're pushing vertical rather than a incline on a standard leg press

    I plan on buying one this year. I bought one last year from Amazon, but it was out of stock, so I just cancelled my order. One of my friends' dad has one of those huge meat processors/grinders/jerky slicers and we use it for all our deer, so the only thing I'm missing is a dehydrator.

    You can go deep on squats in the squat rack, ya know? Smith machine does nothing but restrict the natural movement of your body

    They have no Squat rack. It's planet fitness. Not a real gym, not real machines. I prefer free weights but can't afford a more expensive membership right now.

    I went to ingles last night and the butcher was still there. Got a good deal on some London broil to try my hand on this stuff got him to slice it for me. Evidently he knows jerky sliced it all on the #2 setting on their slicer and perfect jerky. It's going in some marinade tonight when I get home and dehydrator tomorrow

    Jk man, that sucks. Planet Fitness is where gains go to die. I'd just get a regular barbell and put weights on it and do light weight squats with it so you won't have to worry about having to rack it. This will serve 2 purposes:

    1. you'll at least get to do squats, albeit lightweight ones
    2. it might piss off the PF staff, which is always a plus

    Just put weight on like you're gonna deadlift, but do like a clean and jerk and then put the weight in squat position and go to town![/QUOTE]

    Dude, they don't have like barbells or anything. Old PF I used to go to long ago did, back when they first started. Now its very......friendly. I'm going to look around. There's a place called Zachs club 54 which I got to use when I was in Amarillo and it was nice. Lots of free weights like a gym Should be. Ill have to talk to them and see what they offer.

    Dude, that's brutal. No racks or barbells? I see you live in Lubbock...I will personally help you find a gym that is just as cheap as PF. You are missing out on huge strength and physique builders, arguably, the most important of all the lifts. I guess going to a gym with no equipment is better than not going to the gym, but damn, that sucks.
