Feels good to be on break. Time to go kill myself in the gym.

*I am actually not going to "kill" myself. Do not alert the authorities!

Y'all can say what you want about cardio and gains. It's been over a month of consistently running ~10 miles per week. A mix between sprints and 2-3 mile runs. Gained 10lbs and improved in the strength department. Still can't run distance well. 7200ft starts to cripple me after that first mile.

Well sprints and hitt are the good cardio. All of the elite sprinters are jacked and have muscle. Distance runners are scrawny and have no muscle.

You can do as much cardio as you want, as long as you eat enough to make up the deficit

I used the smith machine yesterday. For front squats.

    And I actually liked it.

Didn't change eating, just upped the workouts. Snow shoeing tomorrow :woot:, that should burn some calories.

8 days off and oh boy did I enjoy getting back in there today. Leg day to kick it off and I crushed it.

    Squats 135x10, 225x8x4
    Leg ext 8x4
Smith butt squats (hack squats?) 6x3
    Heel-elevated squats 6x3
    Close-stance squats 8x3
    Reverse lunges 4x3 (per leg)
    Cable front squats 8x3
    Seated calf extensions
    Seated calf raises
    Standing calf raises

Finished it off with 5min stair master with a 25lb plate swangin' between my legs. I got off and collapsed for a few minutes out of exhaustion.

Had a couple newbs in there I hadn't seen before. The first one was a tall lanky guy. He was lurking around me in the squat rack and I thought he was me trying to do legs but he ended up doing chest/tri instead. I had to wait 10min for him to finish jerking around with the belt that holds weight before I could get on the stairs. He was doing weighted dips and resting like 5min between sets of 6 :bananadead:

The other guy was a bigger dude who looked just like the guy from the 5x5 stronglifts website videos so I was thinking he had promise. He got in the squat rack after me and proceeded to quarter squat 135...185...205

It's good for calf raises also, while standing on a block.
